The United States Capitol, often called the Capitol or the Capitol Building, is the seat of the United States Congress, the legislative branch of the federal government. It is located on Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Although no longer at the geographic center of the national capital, the U.S. Capitol forms the origin point for the street-numbering system of the district as well as its four quadrants. Like the principal buildings of the executive and judicial branches, the Capitol is built in a neoclassical style and has a white exterior.
Central sections of the present building were completed in 1800, when the 6th U.S. Congress convened there on November 17, 1800, moving the national capital from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C.. The building was partly destroyed in the 1814 Burning of Washington by the British, then was fully restored within five years. The building was enlarged during the 19th century, by extending the wings for the chambers for the bicameral legislature as more states were admitted to the union, with the House of Representatives housed in the south wing and the Senate housed in the north wing. The massive dome was completed around 1866 just after the American Civil War. The east front portico was extended in 1958. The building's Visitors Center was opened in the early 21st century.
Both its east and west elevations are formally referred to as fronts, although only the east front was intended for the reception of visitors and dignitaries, while the west front is now used for presidential inauguration ceremonies. The building and grounds are overseen by the architect of the Capitol, who also oversees the surrounding Capitol Complex.
The United States Capitol is the meeting place of the United States Congress, the legislature of the federal government of the United States. Located in Washington, D.C., it sits atop Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall. Though it has never been the geographic center of the federal district, the Capitol is the origin by which both the quadrants of the District are divided and the city was planned. Officially, both the east and west sides of the Capitol are referred to as "fronts." Historically, however, only the east front of the building was intended for the arrival of visitors and dignitaries.
SR-71A #61-7972 is on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. From 1991 until September 2003, #972 was in storage at Washington Dulles International Airport in a building specifically constructed for this aircraft. There, it was under strict surveillance by National Air and Space Museum representatives, who regularly adjusted humidity levels to ensure the best possible preservation conditions. This aircraft is no doubt the best-looking of the remaining SR-71s, along with SR-71A #976.
This aircraft holds many records that were set on 6 March 1990, when it was flown from Palmdale to Dulles in what was intended to be the last USAF flight of the SR-71. It also holds the New York to London record of 1 hour, 54 minutes, 56.4 seconds set in 1974. You may have noted the Skunk Works insignia on the rudders of #972. After SR-71A #955's last flight on 24 January 1985, #972 became the Palmdale test aircraft. This aircraft's assembly started 13 December 1965 and was rolled out on 15 September 1966.

The Washington National Cathedral is an American cathedral of the Episcopal church. The structure is of Neo-Gothic design. It is the second largest church in the United States and the fourth tallest structure in Washinton D.C.Construction began on September 29th 1907 when the foundation stone was laid in the presence of President Theodore Roosevelt and a crowd of over 20000 people. It ended 83 years later when the 'final finial'was placed in the presence of President George W. Bush in 1990.The planners of the cathedral envisaged its role to be along the lines of the Westminster Abbey.
It was from the Canterbury Pulpit of this cathedral that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his final Sunday sermon on 31st March 1968 a few days before his assassination in April 1968
The Space Shuttle Enterprise (NASA Orbiter Vehicle Designation: OV-101) was the first Space Shuttle orbiter. It was built for NASA as part of the Space Shuttle program to perform test flights in the atmosphere. It was constructed without engines or a functional heat shield, and was therefore not capable of spaceflight. On September 17, 1976 the first full scale prototype was completed.

Odalisque Seated with Arms Raised, Green Striped Chair
Henri Matisse, (French, 1869-1954), Oil on canevas, 1923
National Galley of Art, Washington D.C.
A nearly nude woman with a pale, pink complexion leans back into a striped, upholstered chair with her arms overhead, holding opposite elbows, and one foot tucked under her in this stylized, vertical painting. The scene is painted loosely, making some details indistinct. The woman’s torso faces us but her legs are angled slightly to our right, and she looks off in that direction with dark brown eyes under dark, arched brows. Her features are loosely painted but she seems to have a straight nose and her small, scarlet-red mouth is closed. Her dark brown hair curls down to her ears in a chin-length bob. She wears only a gauzy, transparent cloth, which is gathered low on her hips with a golden-brown belt. Loosely painted, short and zigzag strokes of chocolate brown and harvest gold suggest a wide band of embroidery or decoration around the bottom hem. The woman’s raised arms show two tufts of dark brown hair in her armpits. She has round breasts with dark pink nipples, and a curving belly and hips. Her left knee, farther from us, is bent sharply against the back of the chair so her foot is tucked behind her other thigh. The chair is striped with lime green, white, and lemon yellow. The floor is terracotta orange. A strip of light blue with a gold pattern to the left and a red area with a flower pattern to our right suggest fabrics draped on the sand-brown wall. The artist signed the work in the lower left corner, "Henri Matisse."
Much of the older architecture in Washington, D.C., USA was inspired by French designs. This exquisite building is the Dwight D. Eisenhower Executive Office Building on Pennsylvania Avenue. It reminds me of a French chateau.

It is a long-standing truism that the spaces Black women occupy are sprinkled with landmines. These landmines come in the form of coiffed hair, the tone of voice, the manner of dress or the perceived lack of experience. These trappings cut at the heart of Black history and culture.
The influence and contributions of Black culture can be seen in everyday life. Black culture has influenced every walk of life from blues music, country music, the fashion industry (can you say Black Dandy at the 2025 Met Gala), dance, language and so much more. Even HBCU marching bands are being replicated.
It is also a long-standing truism there has been no shortage of attempts to minimize, ignore, or simply erase the history of Black culture’s influence and contributions. This image speaks to a collective voice.
