You can smell it in the breeze
Look around! Look around! Look around....."
October is bustin' out all over!
With apologies to Richard Rodgers for borrowing some lyrics from one of his songs from Carousel, "June is bustin' out all over."
It has been a glorious fall on the Leelanau Peninsula! I should note that several days have passed since I took this photo. Our fall color has reached its peak and leaves are falling due to recent rains and high winds. Still, it continues to be very beautiful here.
More of the 'youngsters', doing their very best, aren't they doing well?

I don’t usually take photos of flowers but the wildflowers I planted in our yard have been busting out all over the place after all the rain we had here, and I’m very happy with them.
Poof! A pair of vintage GMD products throttle up busting through the last drift before arrival at St. Thomas.

Bustin' up on a cloud
Shout out loud
You're the one for me
With your love by my side
The world will be mine
You're the one for me
You're the one
You're the one
You just don't know
What you did to me
But I'm not the same
Since you gave me
Love that sheltered from the rain
I'm not the same
What I miss most about SL when I can´t be there is sitting with a friend chatting away....

A friend gave me a cutting of this plant a couple of years ago and I'm not sure at all what it is but this year, after not doing much at all last year, it's grown a series of long tentacle-type stalks with these intriguing flowers/buds on the end. This is one of the stalks. Great crimson colour and very striking. Ever so slightly intrigued as to what will fully develop.
Conway Scenic snowplow extra busts a snow bank at Intervale Cross Road in Intervale, NH at the former site of Mountain Junction, where the B&M split off from the MEC. GP38s 255 and 252 are providing the horsepower for the trip up the notch to Crawford's.
Hearts-A-Bustin' seeds (Euonymus americanus) in my yard 10/8/2009. Has a tiny unnoticeable yellow flower followed by this spectacular seed pod and bright red seeds.
With a full head of steam, GLC 386 encounters the first of many large snow drifts north of Owosso a few days after a large regional blizzard event in Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario. This was one of the most spectacular train chases I've done to date with all of the drifts, awesome crew, friend to enjoy the experience with, and an epic sunset later in the evening to cap it off. Looking back at these photos makes me excited for this upcoming winter season.
Train: GLC ONTN with GLC 386 (SD35), GLC 383 (SD35), and GLC 390 (GP35).

Euonymus americanus is a species of flowering plant in the family Celastraceae. Common names include strawberry bush, American strawberry bush, bursting-heart, hearts-a-bustin and hearts-bustin'-with-love Wikipedia
Found this dead ponderosa pine thrown out on the side of the road. To most folks it would look like litter… there were some random pavers thrown about as well. It was a messy area but I was immediately drawn to the dead tree because of the rich golden browns - it made for the perfect forest scene!
