Buildings of the business district "Red Hills". The construction took more than ten years; as a result, a business center, concert halls, a five-star hotel appeared here.
Moscow International House of Music (building on the right) is a modern center for the performing arts, which has no analogues in Russia. This is an independent production association that organizes performances by Russian and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, instrumental soloists, opera and ballet artists, theater, jazz, pop and folk groups.
The dome of the House of Music is crowned with an emblem in the form of a treble clef-vane 9.5 meters high; by Zurab Tsereteli. The most complicated roller mechanism allows such a heavy construction to rotate according to the principle of a weather vane. It is intended for concerts of classical and popular music; as well as major festivals and competitions. The hall is lined with Siberian larch; considered the best “acoustic” tree in the world.

One of my attempts at the "Crazy Tuesday" theme "Stars".
Shot with a Noritsu "38-60 mm F 4-4.8" (enlarging) lens on a Canon EOS R5.
I have watched the rivalry between these herons for a few weeks now. In this instance, the Black-crowned Night Heron was fishing from it's favorite rock minding it's own business. As I watched, the Great Blue Heron slowly crept out of the shadows, getting ready to pounce on the other heron. The Black-crowned must of heard the other coming and suddenly burst into fright flight.

And here's the real story. If you want to see the work of Frans Lanting, the dutch master in nature and animal photography , in the Nederlands fotomuseum in Rotterdam , you'll really have to hurry. The exhibition ends at 18th september! For you're information, I've visited it 4 times, that's how impressed I am. I don't know what it was, but I loved the fog covering the bridge. Nearly every time we were able to capture a glimpse of this historical gem it was covered with fog. I don't know, I suppose I just enjoyed the natural thickness of it all.
The fog added a bit of drama which is something I will happily tolerate in photography. The business of being busy, the business of doing what needs to be done. Everyone on this bridge was in the business of getting something done that day; whether it was work, play, touring, exercising, or otherwise; everyone had business to tend to. Bridge business.

Back in business
2021 was the year of the great garden renovation. Instead of photographing foxes, badgers, sun rays and frosty mornings I was now building my own Japanese garden paradise with a large pond, a rocky garden stream, stepping stones throughout the garden, a fancy shed and a large wooden deck. Great fun to learn how to build it yourself of course, but that also meant very little time for photography in 2021. Luckily all that is finished now and we can soon enjoy the warmer seasons again in a garden full of wings, fins, fluffy tails, and flowers.
As a kick-off to this new year of photography, I visited the cold northern parts of Finland and Norway, together with 5 highly talented nature photographers. While temperatures back home reached +20°C, we were experiencing snow blizzards, cold sessions in drafty hides and getting pooped on by thousands of birds. Definitely one of the better photography trips I’ve been on though, all thanks to Stefan Gerrits Photography for putting together the perfect trip to the Varanger Peninsula!
Anyhow, this is the first of many images I will share from this trip. The European Shags (the bird, not that other thing….) at the island of Hornøya were closely sitting together, forming this dark patch of feathers with here and there some bright yellow cheeks and a pair of vivid green eyes staring back at you.
There was plenty of sad faces last week to see the last runs' of the long lasting C40-8 fleet that graced the rails of the former DM&IR for many years. Thankfully, it was business as usual for the captive fleet of six axle DMIR, IC and BLE EMD's. We were up early on Wednesday morning to be in place at sunrise for a southbound U713 with 3 LaGrange veterans. DMIR 408 plus 2 hits the morning sun as the taconite steams in the cold morning air about to duck under Rte 33 in Grand Lake, MN.
