OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I saw a squirrel in this oak tree and then noticed the acorns, much larger than those of other local oak species. It's a new species for my prairie seed collection.

The acorns are the largest of any North American oak (thus the species name macrocarpa, from Ancient Greek μακρός makrós "long" and καρπός karpós "fruit"), and are important food for wildlife.

Seed heads of the Lesser Burdock ? On the banks of the River Severn. I thought the bokeh might look good !

Another Lensbaby creation.

This is the second work I produced of this bur. The first, posted earlier in Flickr, was a close-up.
