I tell many of my western friends, that in India we usually have to multiply time commitments with what is called the "Bull Shit Factor." If someone tells you they will get a job done in 1 day, it means its 3 days. If they say 3 weeks, usually it takes about 9 weeks. So the commonly deduced factor of "Bull Shit" is 3.
It seems that here in India, even the sun is affected by the "Bull Shit Factor."
For Three weeks, Prabhakaran and I have been trying to get a wonderful capture of the rising sun, and we have been failing each week. This Sunday it was a bit different. As we departed home, I could see the lovely clouds scattered and told him that today we would succeed in our mission.
As we patiently waited near Muttukadu river, the sun showed up for his appointment with us. Three weeks later. Enjoy it.

AMTK GP38-3 #746 is pictured at Lorton Va, awaiting it's introduction to service as Lorton's new yard/protect engine.
#746 has an interesting pedigree in that it was built as Cleveland Electric #108. When the Penn Central could not guarantee reliable power for CE's coal trains, they took matters into their own hands by supplying their own power; similar to Detroit Edison and the Oneida and Western trains. Built as their #108, the engine made it's way to the UP fleet in 1997. After that, it was a GMTX leaser until Amtrak needed more Geeps to replace Dash8s in yard service.
Despite being a fan of any EMD 2nd gen, they ruined this engine already by adding electronic brakes and inward cameras. All bullshit, not necessary to being an engineer.
As of this writing, it has not been placed into service because nobody wants to work on it. "We will use it only when we get an email demanding that we do so" to quote local management.
This will probably be the last time this engine is facing south (Lorton yard engines face north), so I had to take this chance to shoot her before getting dirty and turned around the wrong way. The end.
On the way to Berea Fest, Micah, David and I drew tattoos on each other.

I've put about as much effort into this photo as flickr has on supporting it's user base.
I'm not the biggest account, I don't even do that much NSFW content. I am still done with Flickr and will be looking for an alterative place to host my photos.
The idea that Flickr is restricting a perfectly valid form of creativity unless you're willing to shell out for Pro is ridiculous and claiming it's good for the 'community' is insulting.
I'm absolutely sick of the ever creeping sanitation of the internet, Flickr will not be receiving my money, and I hope other SL creator will follow suit in abandoning this dying website.
