This Old Dozer features in my latest Video on Youtube. The Dozer is a Favourite subject of mine. It has been parked on this spot beside a fence for as long as i can remember. The Fence which was to it's left has been removed which makes it much easier to shoot The Link to my Video which will is above

I have visited this Bulldozer before and each time the environment improves, The First image was shot over a fence which ran down the near side of the dozer, the last image was constrained by hay bales which were stacked close, this time I had plenty of room and almost perfect lighting. The "matter of factness" which surrounds us at all times can be quite poetic.
This made for a very nice monochrome Topographics image, but I couldn’t turn away from the banana yellow on that Mediterranean blue sky.
This was a real heartbreaker. Located just outside of Mottville, Michigan, it stood by the side of the road for many years. I went that way about once a year and subsequently photographed the miniature Greek Revival several times. I especially liked the cornice returns seen here, The generous proportions are unusual in that the relief is done in brick rather than wood trim and then painted to blend with the rest of the trim. This treatment was not uncommon in this area with Italianate buildings.
Then one day I went by it was gone, a bulldozer still burying the bricks and a fire in progress to torch the remains of this early gem, along with all the trees that surrounded it..

This was originally shot for the 52 weeks for dogs project. but I ended up going with a high key b&w conversion for the group submission. This week the big event for me and the dogs was a major ramping of construction in "our" field. For 15 years I have walked 2 generations of dogs in this area but alas, its days are numbered. On Wednesday this week we headed over to cut through the field to get to our wetland trail and there were several dump trucks, bulldozers and backhoes going full tilt. The construction is at a standstill for the long weekend so we sent back on Saturday even for some photo ops. Once back home the original version of the shot (RAW conversion above) did not look nearly so good as on the camera so I started to play around with b&w and high key conversions (pictured below) only to find out that next weeks challenge is actually "black & white outdoors" so I have inadvertently jumped the gun a bit. Oh the bulldozer in the title is both Sampson and the mechanical one. When Sampson runs in the woods he every so often gets bug eyed and just bulldozes through everything in his path :)

Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, formerly known as Summerlee Heritage Park, is an industrial museum in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is situated on the site of the Victorian Summerlee Iron Works and incorporated the main workshop of the former Hydrocon Crane factory.
Those in the photo were living in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. They are a species of "special concern" in the southwest. Their numbers are declining due to loss of habitat, mainly by development, especially in urban areas. In both Arizona and Nevada, as land is developed, it is required that authorities be notified before development starts if burrowing owls are present.
There are a number of groups, including Boy Scouts and Wild at Heart, who assist in rescue of burrowing owls from threatened areas, and relocate them to safer environments. I was fortunate to be able to assist in constructing burrows for these owls who are being relocated. Those pictured were rescued from an area to be developed, and are in a holding facility for relocation in coming months to newly-constructed burrows in safer areas. They are no match for bulldozers and road graders.
These guys look like they are going to a formal dinner party...all they need are bow ties and a limo!
