Very rare that the Mr Landcruiser yard works on Landcruiser's built post 1990, but after 3 Auto Electricians got it wrong on this 80 Series 1994 1HDFTE weapon it was time to get in and sort this one out properly! The latest development with my O scale kit building is this LCut Creative bridge that I have added graffiti to.
Its freehand, using paint pens using Flickr for reference.
From 2F to Turbo-ed 2H rebuilt with 5 speed. This one came in as what looked like a lost interest project that just needed sorting. Engine and box where mounted but both still needed extensive work and plumbing up. While with us we added a full Whistle 'N' Soot Turbo kit including airbox, crossover pipes, turbo and snorkel, a new roof and console and a reclaimed bullbar. We also rebuilt the axles and threw in a few other goodies and she's ready to Roll... As most people know, the 12HT engine is one of the best engines Toyota has ever made, but like all engines even these awesome beasts have their weak points. The Turbo oil feed and return pipe on the 12HT is a common fail point, especially when the engines are getting older like this 60 Series which has done over 620,000Kms. Luckily, as this is a well known problem, there is a kit available to replace the original pipes, you can check them out for a whole range of vehicles at ift.tt/2WM30BJ , we got this one from E-Bay delivered in 2 days for only $113AUD. The fitment was pretty straightforward, the only thing to be aware of is that you have to use the supplied bolts as the factory ones do not fit the Mabatek flanges. This FJ40 classic restoration is really starting to look the goods. The colour for the upholstery was a specific request from the customer and the Sewfine Upholstery team out at in Kippa-Ring in Queensland have done an outstanding job bringing it to life. We have installed the Car Builders premium floor door and roof acoustic deadener in this vehicle which will make a massive difference to the driving experience. Another big step this week was getting the engine bay finished and of course firing the donk up for the first time. The carburetor still needs some fine tuning and the new exhaust going on next week will make all the difference to the sound, but it was such a joy to hear that engine sing for the first time.
