The John Hancock Center, also known by Chicagoans as "Big John", is one of the city's icons. The exterior members of the steel frame represent a tube while the diagonal members provide the structural stiffness and bracing support to keep it steady amid strong winds, as well as some critical structural floors that coincide with the intersections of the diagonals and the corner columns.

The Durrat Al Bahrain project involves the creation of 13 artificial islands off the southern coast of Bahrain and the development of a seaside resort on the mainland.
Mooney Kelly’s role was to provide cost estimates of the scheme masterplan, including the dredging of the new islands and the development of 2000 villas, 3000 apartments, luxury hotels, restaurants, promenades, shopping centres marina and golf course.
This is a canal tunnel that runs underneath Princess street in the very heart of Manchester City centre....showing the layers of the city through time....Manchester is the second city of the UK , and a diverse cultural developing metropolis.....above ground there is a diverse mix of modern architecture, intertwined with the old. Yet below ground there still exists vast swathes of victorian Manchester....almost a city beneath a city.
Mooney Kelly acted as project managers and commercial managers for LEK in a series of moves, changes and expansions to a building on the Strand, WC1, until the client’s lease expired. Mooney Kelly were then retained as project managers and commercial managers for their fit out of their new premises in Grosvenor Place (formerly the European Headquarters of Emron), which accommodated some 200+ staff over 29,000 sq ft. The entire move was carried out over a single weekend. All 200 staff left their old offices on the Friday evening and sat down at their new desks on the Monday morning.
12,000 sq ft of prime real estate in central London was refurbished and upgraded to provide an interior, which matched the property’s location. Mooney Kelly acted as project commercial managers on the job.
The Acland Burghley School, a secondary school in north London, appointed Mooney Kelly to be the Project Quantity Surveyor for the internal and external upgrade of their dining and common room areas. The scope of works included new internet and dining areas; new vending machines and kitchen equipment, as well as external hard and soft landscaping and decking.
All works were carried out to a very tight budget programme to coincide with the school summer holidays.
Conversion of a 93-bedroom two star budget hotel to 65 bedroom 4 star hotel. The existing hotel consisted of 7 town houses previously amalgamated into one. The works required new lifts and lift shafts, removal and infilling of staircase and other substantial structural works. Mooney Kelly acted as cost consultants for the whole project.

Noel Kelly is the other senior partner and co-founder of Mooney Kelly. He has been professionally qualified for over 20 years, with vast experience in all aspects of the construction industry. He graduated with a BSc in Quantity Surveying from Greenwich University in 1980 and worked in central London practices for the next ten years, three of which were spent in the Middle East, where Noel worked on the installation of a communications system in 50 sites nationwide in Saudi Arabia. In that time he developed invaluable experience in traditional quantity surveying and project management.
Noel jointly runs all business aspects of Mooney Kelly with David and also works out of the Hammersmith office on live projects, as well as on day-to-day administration and business development. His experience includes a wide range of contracts, including JCT contracts, the NEC form of contract and international contracts such as FIDIC and AIA (American Institute of Architects), as well as Construction Management and Design, Manage and Construct forms of contract.
Noel has considerable experience in all sections of the construction industry and from all aspects – be it employer, contractor, subcontractor, funder, landlord or tenant. He also has additional expertise in the fields of Capital Allowance calculations; adjudication disputes and fire insurance claim negotiations.
Moorfields Eye Hospital

This project for the world-famous London eye hospital involved a new-build pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, for which Mooney Kelly acted as project quantity surveyors.
Mooney Kelly co-founder and senior partner David Mooney has over 25 years of construction experience. After completing his degree in Quantity Surveying in 1981, David joined a medium-sized practice, where he swiftly progressed to become an associate director. Since leaving that post in 1990 and founding Mooney Kelly, David has been involved in a number of very high-profile projects, including the commercial management of the £160m M&E component of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, where he also headed up a dispute resolution team. In a further major rail project, David was the senior commercial manager, responsible for a team of 15-20 staff and £600m of packages, on the Jubilee Line extension.
David has a very hands-on approach to the projects he leads and rapidly conveys that ethos to commercial teams, both giving and expecting a high level of commitment. He has extensive experience of all standard terms of construction contracts, including the NEC

Mooney Kelly’s remit as project managers and commercial managers included construction fit-out, AC, IT, security, furniture, staff relocation and new maintenance contracts. All staff were relocated over the course of a single weekend from their main office and one satellite office.

Mooney Kelly provided commercial management services to Crown Castle International, a leading owner and operator of shared mobile communications and broadcast infrastructures. Mooney Kelly’s role was threefold. Firstly, the commercial administration of a national design and installation framework contract for civil engineering works on approximately five thousand sites across the UK. Secondly, the agreement of a schedule of rates framework agreement with broadcasting tenants and contractors; and thirdly site feasibility studies and the subsequent business case analysis and reconciliation of income and expenditure against both framework agreements.

Ciarán Scallon is an associate partner at Mooney Kelly, with a specialisation in the field of sustainable energy. Ciarán first joined the company in 2007, after 15 years of experience in civil engineering and construction project management for some of the UK's largest contracting firms. Having read civil engineering and construction management for his primary degree, Ciarán is now also reading for a Masters in Construction Economics at University College, London. He is a full member of both the CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) and the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors).
Ciarán now heads up Mooney Kelly's sustainable energy department, carrying out feasibility studies, economic analysis and supply chain development for sustainable energy projects in the UK.
Having developed a strong network of supply chain contacts within the sustainable energy sector, Mooney Kelly is uniquely positioned to provide accurate cost information for this type of project under Ciarán's direction, as well as offering long-term financial modelling and a variety of capital-budgeting techniques.
