Dâmbovița River and National Library, București, Bucharest, Romania
Happy weekend to all Flickr friends !
Behind the church is a sunny, flower-filled courtyard surrounded on three sides by an arcade.
Interesting series of gravestones, some dating back to the 1700s.
It’s often possible to see nuns coming and going from the church’s library, which shelters a collection of 8,000 books on Byzantine art, history and music.
Bucharest. Romania Europe
In total contrast to the pristine appearance of Baku the area around the main railway station in Bucharest really has been let go. It looks to me as though there has been no investment since the 1989 revolution when Ceaușescu was overthrown. This hotel entrance is a good representation of the area that surrounds Bucharest Nord railway station.
From what I can see the centre of Bucharest is a lovely place with a great number of well presented classical buildings, but this area of the city, just a mile away seemingly hasn't been touched by developers.

The so-called Gioconda complex includes three G+5 apartment buildings and a G+17 tower with two extra split floors, totalling 321 apartaments. The constructive system consists of reinforced concrete frames with back-up masonry for the lower buildings and reinforced concrete membranes with thick slabs for the tower.
