Artist, Winold Reiss 1886-1953
Cincinnati was a leader in the medium of radio by the 1930s, with Powell Crosley's WLW able to broadcast nationwide at up to 500,000 watts. This mural combines two photographs to define both the technical and artistic sides of broadcasting. This same duality exists in all art forms, including Winold Reiss's own work on the murals.
This mural was one of dozens created by Winold Reiss (1886-1953) for Cincinnati's Union Terminal train station in the early 1930s. It was relocated to the airport in 1973-74, through the generosity of the Crosley Foundation.
