From the top, an impressive plateau, it is possible to contemplate the entire city of Rio and its surroundings – it is possible to see the Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemer, the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca, and even the mountains of Serra of the Organs. It's an unforgettable sight!

Festivities June, festivals of the popular saints, or celebration of the mid-summer (Midsummer) are the period centered on the summer siege (northern hemisphere) and winter (southern hemisphere), and more specifically on the celebrations of Northern Europe that occur Between June 19 and June 25. Exact dates vary between cultures.
The Christian Church, however, designates June 24 as the feast day in honor of the Christian martyr St. John the Baptist and celebrates the Eve of St. John and the Birth of John the Baptist.

Male - Small distinctive hummingbird with a straight black bill. Males are mostly green with a rusty rump and tail, and noteworthy for an iridescent pink throat and white spot behind the eye. Females are green above and rusty below with a white teardrop behind the eye and a pale patch on the cheeks. Found in the understory of humid rainforest and visiting feeders at forest edges. ebird.org/species/brarub1

This species is endemic to Brazil, where it generally occurs from Minas Gerais south to Rio Grande do Sul, and it occurs in wooded areas of all types in the Atlantic Forest region, to at least 2,000 m. It regularly visits feeders in small numbers. Both sexes of this hummingbird are attractive and distinctive. Males are primarily clad in deep green, with a brilliant deep red throat patch, a small but obvious white postocular spot, browner wings, and a bright red tail, while females share the spot behind the eye and the tail color of the male, but are otherwise rich orange over the entire underparts and on the rump.

Ilha Grande is a tropical paradise a couple of hours off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. It is part of the city Angra dos Reis which belongs to Costa Verde or the "green coast". From beaches to jungle treks, there is something for everyone here. Boat tours are a common tourist activity and all the locals earn their living through the tourism industry.

Perched on Schoenoplectus californicus (C.A. Mey.) Steud.
This doradito is found in swamps and riparian habitats in central and northern Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and southern Brazil.
Typically difficult to locate, but during the migration can be found in various areas with tall grass.
Known in Brazil as "amarelinho-do-junco".

Under the rhythm of distant drums,
she rises in feathers and fire.
Brazil Carnival isn’t just a celebration…
it’s a heartbeat.
And tonight,
she is the pulse of it.
Iguazu Falls in full flood after the heaviest rainfall in 25 years. This was taken from a platform on the Brazil side that takes you out to an island in the throat of the falls in an area you could never reach by foot. It's not exactly wilderness here, but the sheer power, sound and feel of the water puts it near the pinnacle of all the natural spectacles I've ever witnessed.

In this photograph I appear to have captured a 'Morning Glory or Roll Cloud', which is quite a rare meteorological event (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_glory_cloud)
I took this photograph as a storm developed over the Atlantic Ocean at Costa do Sauipe beach, Bahia, North East Brazil. The cloud developed as the storm moved from the sea inland. Quite a dramatic sight!
Pantanal, Brazil - The Ringed Kingfisher is the largest kingfisher in the Americas. Its heavy, pale-based bill, disheveled crest, blue-gray plumage, white collar, and red belly are visible and recognizable even at a distance. Ringed Kingfishers are often conspicuous, searching shallow water for fish from a prominent perch and chattering noisily when disturbed. Singles or pairs are also often observed flying high overhead and giving loud "keck!" contact calls. Like other kingfishers, the Ringed nests in burrows excavated in banks, generally along watercourses. This species occurs in areas with shallow water throughout the Neotropics south to Tierra del Fuego.
Blessed to capture one of these during my trip to Brazil. I don't know why but there were loads of them and I was able to take a picture of one of them with my macro lenses. Loved the pose!
