Autumns Last Hurrah...
The seasons come and go so fast they hardly seem to last very long, that is until winter finally arrives with all its bluster and bravado.
Once that bone chilling cold finds its way deep into your bones, you think "when will this ever end."
Suddenly almost imperceptibly the temps start to be less drastic and soon enough, this season too has passed and a milder climate is on its way. Once again we hope for spring and all the new life it brings.
This shot exemplifies the struggle as one season ends and another begins.

Rented a boat to sail around the harbour of Manta Ecuador and came upon this beautiful boat that was built from many scraps and still managed to float.
It was anchored just inside the harbour where the Pacific Ocean rolls into South America with bravado, blue and green.
It was a beautiful day and the sunlight brightened the boards and plywood that made this beauty.
I hope it is still sailing the ocean and the fishers are still pulling in their crop.
Taken on the same walk as the Snowberries and backlit by the low evening sun with the little Fuji x100v....
I can hardly bear to watch the news and yet stay glued to it hoping for better news.
There is none…
How impotent we feel sitting and watching that convoy of Russian artillery and tanks. This photo was taken practically alongside a road. A road I can walk freely.
How can this be happening….
Can anyone stop them or are the brave people in Ukraine fighting back going to all be stamped on like ants under a big boot.
Will their bravado be for nothing ?
Dunno if it is wrong to upload photos or not - am taking this back out of groups.
Is our country doing enough?
Could they do more ?
I can feel the panic and sheer shock of those people yet can only watch - it feels almost voyeuristic…
I wish all the Ukrainians would run for cover tbh..the fight is too unequal
I have been trying to upload the emoji for the Flag of Ukraine but it immediately changes.. can only hope it is to show that we are United with Ukraine but if anyone knows otherwise please let me know…Sue

Rebel without a cause -
These days it seems that many of us are inclined to do that. Showing a bravado for anything and everything of little importance, hence the firearm in this image, to have irony of anti-rebellion (which itself is a rebellion). Anyhow, hope each of us find more meaningful issues to rebel against.

Spending all my nights, all my money going out on the town.
Doing anything just to get you off of my mind.
But when the morning comes,
I'm right back where I started again.
Trying to forget you is just a waste of time.
* chorus
Baby come back.
Any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you.
Baby come back. (Yeah.)
You can blame it all on me.
I was wrong and I just can't live without you.
All day long, wearing a mask of false bravado
Trying to keep up the smile that hides a tear.
But as the sun goes down,
I get that empty feeling again.
How I wish to God that you were here.
* chorus
Now that I put it all together,
Give me the chance to make you see.
Have you used up all the love in your heart?
Nothing left for me.
Ain't there nothing left for me?
...or...bravado comes before a fall :)

Out walking around and found this...I loved the bravado of the little bird and wanted to share it, but the surroundings were so "messy." So, I resorted to a little HSS work.
Gracie Jo is waiting for me to open the window, but Cousin is in the cat enclosure looking in. (series of 3)
Brandgans - Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis).
Very common. Actually we have close to a million here in winter. 60% of the Eurasian population (-;
A visit to a building site that Michael and I had been eye-ing up for a good few years now.
We've been doing this for a while but I really haven't built up any confidence or inate ability. Michael on the other hand has gained complete, maximum bravado. Never concerned to try a way in, to push his luck. It's quite something - I'm often in awe of him (mostly whilst I'm nervously hiding in a shadow).
This shot was taken near the top of the site, from which one day someone will have a lovely coastal view.
Come to the edge.
We might fall.
Come to the edge.
It’s too high!
COME TO THE EDGE!
And they came,
and he pushed,
and they flew.

For no less than 35 years, Marshal Tito was the face of Yugoslavia. He moved on the stage of world politics with bravado: he opposed the almighty Soviet Union, his Tito-ism formed the ideal buffer against Stalinsm for the West. In short, Tito put Yugoslavia on the world map. More importantly, Tito has managed to maintain stability in Yugoslavia all these years. How did he manage to keep those very strong nationalistic feelings in check all these years? Tito just said: Don't whine, shut up. Most importantly, Tito, with a sophisticated strategy, made sure that no people felt like a minority. No one is better or more valuable than another. As the leader of his partisan army, which consisted of different population groups, he was the only one who really stood above the parties. Especially in the early years of his reign unsavory things happened. Indeed. People who opposed him during the war or shortly afterwards have been disabled. Thousands of people have been murdered and beaten to death. The problem with dictators, and Tito was of course a dictator, is that they don't have suitable successors. No one can and should stand in their shadow, so when such a ruler dies, power falls into the hands of all kinds of incapable figures. After Tito's death in 1980, Yugoslavia is rapidly declining. The increasingly poor relations between the different population groups eventually culminate in a civil war. You can still find slogans of Tito at the most southern point of Croatia, at the abandoned Prevlaka Fortress: Tito - leads our way - to je naš put.. On the road to Prevlaka Fortress we pass beautiful Italian cypress trees.
Prevlaka is a peninsula at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor - Montenegro. It is the southernmost point in Croatia. There is a neglected fortress from 1870. It was bombed in 1943 and this is still clearly visible. There are plans for restoration. The reserve is totally overgrown, but nature is breathtaking. There is a beautiful view from the terrace. Prevlaka's strategic location and proximity to a naval base have led Prevlaka to several quarrels between Croatia and Yugoslavia. In the early 1990s, during the Croatian War of Independence, Yugoslavia occupied the peninsula. In 1996, the two countries agreed to demilitarize it, and UN observers came to monitor it. Recognized as a territory of Croatia in 2006. Worth a visit if you like abandoned ancient ruins. On the road past beautiful Italian cypress trees to the most southern point of Croatia.

Blauwborst - Male White-spotted Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica cyanecula), singing with conviction.
Couldn't get as close as I wanted, but liked his singing bravado.

Step into the spotlight and let every curve speak in whispers of glamour and seduction—because the Kari Dress by LF Fashion wasn’t made for the modest. It was made for moments when you want all eyes, and I mean every last one, on you.
This is no ordinary dress. It’s a sensuous sculpture, a masterpiece that hugs the body with unapologetic intimacy. Now tell me… what color would you dare to wear when you know the world is already watching?
I do not see Orioles that often, and this pair was harassing a young bald eagle who sat on a branch, that was just ... too close. Mr Oriole was doing most of the bravado, but Ms Oriole was doing her part too.

Baardmannetje ♂ - inquisitive Bearded Tit male (Panurus biarmicus), checking me out.
This year's numbers are way lower.
Superb Fairywren
≠=====================≠
Here's one for Lance.
Attack is the best form of Defense. Rule 1 in the Manual of Superb Fairywren War.
He has a territory and a family group to protect. The flat head, low tail, and protuding cheek feathers must all tell rivals that they are not welcome.
In spite of all his bravado, the alpha female will, in her own time visit the prospective males in the surrounding territories.
When they finally raise young chances are pretty high that none of the young will be his dna.
Black Drongo / ফিঙে / भुजंगा / ಕಾಜಾಣ
A flycatching avian virtuoso of India and East Asia, the Black Drongo is a ubiquitous denizen of forests, wetlands, gardens, and open expanses. Different species of drongo are mostly black, but they aren’t boring because they sport many shiny (or matte) feathers to their character -
• superb agility and audacious bravado that enables them to fearlessly harass birds of far grander stature,
• masterfully mimic the calls of their feathered neighbors,
• free-riding cattle and feed on insects flushed by the conveyance.
• serenade the landscape with a varied repertoire of tones.

Stand-off. Two Kookaburras (or Laughing Kookaburras) have a bit of a staring competition with a Noisy Miner in a local street. Despite the well known bravado of the Noisy Miners, I think the outcome was a draw!
Not long ago, in fact weeks ago right at the start of May we had some unexpectedly expected frost. Happens almost every year as Spring takes hold and Winter has a last display of bravado.
