Of course, if the railroad I created for my branding class is to have any viable credibility, they would have HO scale models of their locomotives and rolling stock for all the crazy model railroaders out there like me. So, I created a PS covered hopper in HO scale rendered in New England Railway red with the corporate logo and tagline and using the corporate Copperplate Gothic Font for the railroad name and the car number.
A nighttime shot of a Baťa store, illuminated by the iconic red neon sign. The warm glow contrasts with the cool ambient lighting, creating a cozy yet modern urban atmosphere. The storefront showcases stylish footwear and accessories, with eye-catching advertisements in the window. The cobblestone street in the foreground adds a timeless European charm to the scene.
My previous logo, a modular spoked wheel, has served me well for the last five years, but it does not anymore represent the kind of models I currently create. I decided to change the logo on all my social media accounts to a molecule of Shamrock Tessellation 1.1 which is more in line with my current style.

The more I look at Rowntree's 1950s advertising - this would have been issued both as a press advert as here and as an external poster - the more I like it. The company's used a very minimalist approach with little or no text, seldom repeating the company name in text as it appears on the packaging, and using a bold colour palette that itself was part of their 'look'. It is clever stuff - similar to where brands like Guinness famously got to.
Anyhow this fruity figure involves many of the fruits whose flavours appeared in the hard, unchewable fruit gums, the counterpoint to the soft, unsuckable fruit pastilles!
This is likely to be the work of artist & illustrator Norman Weaver who undertook many commissions for Rowntree's at the time.

Investing In Gold, Or SeaFood, Or Aviation? Oh, I See! - IMRAN™
My great friend Marcelo De Santis posted something from TechCrunch with the image of a goldfish flying from a full jar to one with no competition. Loving visual wordplay, plus recalling a ton of esoteric trivia & other useless information, I had to ask this. Is it A Fish Called Wanda? 😄
Do you want to invest in Gold (fish 😉) or flying (aviation), or (seafood) fish? 😊 Kidding aside, I learned that there’s a company of that name (Flying Fish) selling beer in USA which I didn’t know of until today. I don’t drink alcohol and never saw anyone consuming that brand either. What airborne sea-life has to do with fermented botanical matter I have no idea!
Interestingly, besides the 1988 movie reference, I did remember specifically that “Flying Fish” was one of the earliest brands of pencils, slide rules, typewriters, and other stuff from China. I recall using several of these as a kid in 1970s Pakistan. 😊
I’m not sure if they were all the same company’s products or just a cultural icon used as a logo by many companies. Here are some examples. Do you recall any of these or other products with the same brand name?
