Uzbekistan is the world capitol of water and other melons. Hundreds of different species, each probably the best you have ever eaten. I didn't believe that before our trip, but it is true... definitely the best melons I have ever eaten!
They're friends in the spring but foes in the fall. Bull elk displaying their new racks still a bit in the velvet. Taken in evening light at Dean Creek Elk Viewing area on the Oregon Coast.

" Hold my head a little higher
Can't you tell I love a liar?
I know what I look like to you
I would say it's excessive
Or maybe damn impressive
I'll admit I'm confused
I've gotta remember
That I'm just a toy
'Til you got my hopes up
And now I'm annoyed
You thought you could charm me
And, damn it, you're right
So watch me fall for every damn stereotype
You can't help it
This is just how we were taught to love
Oh, there's a name for boys like you
And yet I feel lucky to hear all your lines
I hate that they shake me up every time "
Celebrating the Pchum Ben Festival in Cambodia this week. Pchum Ben itself is a fusion of two Khmer words: 'Pchum' - which means 'to gather together' and 'Ben' - which represents a 'ball of food'.
Pchum Ben officially lasts for 15 days - and is an annual holiday in Cambodia. A time to pay respect to ancestors - going back as far as seven generations. Similar to Memorial Day in the USA or Qing Ming in China. Most people get one or two weeks off and schools (and small shops) are closed.
People pack their bags and return to their hometowns, where they visit with relatives and pray at local pagodas. One of the busiest religious holidays of the year.
The boys above are hamming it up and happy to pose for a portrait. The makeup and drums are part of the celebration and I made them pose for about 30 shots until I got it right. 😁 They were rewarded with high fives and icy soft drinks.
Disclaimer: These aren't really The Backstreet Boys. Any reference to the original Backstreet Boys, either implied or stated, is purely coincidental. 😂
Sadness is an emotional pain associated with, or characterised by, feelings of disadvantage, loss, despair, grief, helplessness, disappointment and sorrow. An individual experiencing sadness may become quiet or lethargic, and withdraw themselves from others.
Being sad is a normal reaction in difficult times. But usually, the sadness goes away. When a sad mood lasts for 2 weeks or more and interferes with normal, everyday functioning, you may be depressed.

I love their brotherhood moments.
A little backstory. This was taken on our summer holidays by the lake. I liked the place from the moment we came. I watched where the sun would set. It was a valley and in the evenings a little mist would form there where the wood was kept. Finally the last day I was walking that road with my sons and the older one said he was tired and he does not want to walk any more. He sat down in the grass. I called my younger one to give him a helping hand :)
my birthday was a few days ago..in which i wasnt feeling too good..
today, my sweet boys, came into my office where i was working, all dress up (well, for what boys would be) . and asked me if I was ready to go take their pictures. I said what? not even turning around... you never want me to take your pictures (I have been trying for weeks to get them both together for a holiday one)
They said HAPPY BIRTHDAY - we give you a 1/2 hour.
and they willingly did :) I was in my glory. it only lasted about 10 minutes, but they never once complained - and gave me the best cheese grins a mom could ask for :)
As seen over the urinal at Bubbalou's Bodacious Barbecue, Altamonte Springs, Florida. Phone cam quality. Little girls watching are amazed.
The title says it all. (The canvas says a lot, too...) BEST VIEWED LARGE!
The subject of the original photograph was an altered t-shirt worn by a friend who was helping decorate my house. I loved the irony of the battle-of-the-sexes message "Boys Lie" separated across her chest, since that is often what boys lie about, or for!
I tried to limit the palette of tiles shots from my basement/garage, which we were setting up to be a photostudio, and which included disco balls, candles, mirrors, and colored lights.

Gyan's new joints inspired (i think) by The Onion personals. Chrissy and Gyan got me to join up on that, it's kind of a waste of time.
Not great quality but I thought I'd post. We had some Typhoon weather here today and these guys were making the most of it.
The wild boys are calling on their way back from the fire
in august moon's surrender to a dust cloud on the rise
wild boys fallen far from glory
reckless and so hungered on the razors edge you trail
because there's murder by the roadside in a sore afraid new world
they tried to break us, looks like they'll try again
Wild boys never lose it
wild boys never chose this way
wild boys never close your eyes
wild boys always shine
You got sirens for a welcome there's bloodstain for your pain
and your telephone been ringing wile you're dancing in the rain
wild boys wonder where is glory
where is all you angels now the figureheads have fell
and lovers war with arrows over secrets they could tell
they tried to tame you looks like they'll try again
Wild boys never lose it
wild boys never chose this way
wild boys never close your eyes
wild boys always shine.
