There was a parade going on in celebration of "the day of the Republic of China," in which these musical boyscouts marched.
The Boyscout originally shot for "This Is A Photo Blog" talks about a boy loss of innocence and the motivation to be treated like an adult. I originally concepted this picture to utilize my large collection of Marushka Lithographs.
Shot in studio, at The Forge.
A trail in Cypress Hills Saskatchewan leading away from the Boyscout camp that I used to attend as a kid. I took a recent trip to Cypress to experience the fall colors, they were amazing.
During October 1945 Korean Boy Scouts were in a welcome to Americans parade in Seoul. This was a happy time for the Korean people celebrating their new freedom.
(Another photo taken with a Speed Graphic on outdated Super X filmpack. I recently found more Korean negatives that were never printed.)

The last time I was a boy scout was about 60 years ago. This is the book that told me how to be a boy scout. I don't know why, but I've had it all these years. I don't feel sentimental about the boy scouts, but, somehow I've kept posession of the book or it has kept posession of me. I keep it in a cigar box on my dresser. I take it out and look through the pages once in awhile. It has all kinds of good information in it. Stuff that is still usable, even now. Things like first aid and how to tie a knot that won't slip. I still use the knots I learned in the boy scouts. They don't slip.
I guess maybe I keep it because I think it may prove to be useful one fine day.
Postscript Thanksgiving 2007: I have given this book to my grandson, Garrett. He is a Boy Scout now and I figure it will be fun for him to show to the other scouts.
