Inside detail of Riding Habit.
Equestrian ensembles for women consisted of a hat, fitted bodice, sidesaddle skirt and boots. Inspired by men's wear, female riding habits were constructed using techniques similar to those employed to make finely tailored men's suits. Women typically commissioned tailors, rather than dress makers, to create their riding habits. Loops of twill tape sewn inside the asymmetrical skirt hooked under the wearer's instep to insure that her legs remained covered while riding.
Whose feet were protected by these boots? Left behind on the porch of a 1926 farmhouse, these three pairs of boots speak of many years of hard work both on the small farm and renovating the old house. In a few more weeks, they will be completely hidden by the weeds rapidly engulfing parts of the house.

This kitten loved to hide in my snakeskin cowboy boots. I named her Boots. It was a sad day when she outgrew them. No offence to anyone who has a snake for a pet, but if I found a poisonous one in the wild hissing at me or my horse I'd make boots out of it. lol It is a good thing my plan to move to Texas to work on the best horse ranch didn't turn out. Big snakes are not my thing. Little garden snakes that are harmless are ok.
Meet Boots. Boots is a well known resident of Port Aransas, Texas and is frequently sighted at Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center. That's were I took this shot, safely from the elevated boardwalk. Boots is estimated to be around 50 years old and 12 feet long.

Couldn't resist shooting this 'street art'. Outside a bungalow in Kilchoan are these dogs made out of fishermen's yellow boots (proper fishermen always wear yellow boots to match their yellow capes and sou'westers). But aren't these clever? And the welly flower pots too?

These boots are frustratingly gorgeous. They take an age to put on because of the cord wrapping but once on they're lovely.

These boots are made for walking... and climbing trees apparently.
Taken underneath my favorite Pepper tree in the same area where my feisty feline has posed for me in the past.
