The Boca Prins beach lies within Arikok National Park on Aruba. This narrow bay has, in geological terms, only recently 'dried up'. About 1000 years ago, this bay was much further inland. Research indicates that the vegetation was lush and even spores of ferns have been found.
Although the sea might seem welcoming, swimming is strictly prohibited as undercurrents are an ever-present danger.

Boca do Inferno (Portuguese for Hell's Mouth) is a chasm located in the seaside cliffs close to the Portuguese city of Cascais, in the District of Lisbon. The seawater has access to the deep bottom of the chasm and vigorously strikes its rocky walls, making it a popular tourist attraction.

El nombre de Boca del Infierno proviene de un antiguo cuento local, que narra cómo un viejo hechicero que habitaba un castillo sobre las rocas se enamoró de la mujer más hermosa del lugar. Por miedo a perderla, la hizo prisionera en el castillo, pero el soldado que la custodiaba, ansioso por saber qué se ocultaba tras las puertas de aquella celda, decidió abrirla y, al ver a la muchacha, también se enamoró de ella. En este caso, su amor fue correspondido y decidieron fugarse juntos, pero cuando escapaban del castillo a caballo, el hechicero los vio y, mediante un conjuro, consiguió que las rocas bajo sus pies se abrieran engullendo a la pareja con un tremendo estruendo.
Se cuenta que, desde entonces, el lugar fue bautizado como la Boca del Infierno que se había tragado a los enamorados de la leyenda.
