Ramon sa che mi piace venire qui prima di ogni giornata importante e anche se per raggiungerlo bisogna fare una piccola deviazione, mi porta senza neppure che glielo chieda.
Se vi capita di venire a Boa Vista, quando state per atterrare , date un 'occhiata dal finestrino del vostro aereo e potrete vedere questo piccolo gioiello dall'alto, largo appena un chilometro e lungo circa 5 km.
Si dice che la sabbia di queste dune sia stata portata dal vento dalla vicina Africa ...
Il silenzio qui è quasi assoluto ... solo quello del vento e della sabbia che si muove all'infinito, formando forme sempre diverse...
nessun odore neppure quello della salsedine ...
Le mie orme sulla sabbia sono l'unico dettaglio ... cancellate subito dal vento ...
Ho bisogno del deserto.
Qui non si vede nulla. Non si sente nulla.

🇩🇪 Boa constrictor (Boa constrictor) ist eine sehr große Schlange, die in freier Wildbahn nur auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent vorkommt. Diese fleischfressende Schlange verzehrt lebende Beute, die sie fängt, indem sie deren Blutkreislauf in ihren Falten blockiert.
Größe:je nach Unterart und Geschlecht zwischen 1,50 m und 4,20 m Durchschnittsgewicht 6 bis 16 kg.
Er ist dämmerungs- bis nachtaktiv. Er frisst Leguane, Vögel, Ozelots und andere kleine Säugetiere. Durch die Verengung seiner Falten verursacht er den Tod seiner Beute durch einen Kreislaufstillstand, der die Blutzufuhr zu den lebenswichtigen Organen unterbricht, so dass diese nicht mehr versorgt werden kann.
Diese Art kommt in Süd- und Mittelamerika und auf den Antillen vor, wo sie in tropischen Wäldern, feuchten und trockenen Savannen sowie in semiariden Gebieten vorkommt.
Die Boa constrictor ist eine ovovivipare Art. Die Würfe enthalten zwischen 15 und 50 Jungtiere.

Dimensioni: a seconda della sottospecie e del sesso, tra 1,50 m e 4,20 m, peso medio tra 6 e 16 kg.
Le sue abitudini variano da crepuscolari a notturne. Si nutre di iguane, uccelli, ocelot e altri piccoli mammiferi; stringendo le sue pieghe, provoca la morte della preda bloccando la circolazione, interrompendo l'afflusso di sangue agli organi vitali e privando così la preda dei suoi organi vitali.
Questa specie si trova in Sud America, America Centrale e nelle Indie Occidentali, nelle foreste tropicali, nelle savane umide o secche e nelle zone semiaride.

On the night of December 27th i really wanted to do a night hike somewhere but it rained most of the day and into the night. This was going to be my last night on the Osa Peninsula before we drove NW the next day and I really wanted to find at least one more lifer reptile or amphibian but especially a snake.
My son and I didn't leave till quite a while after dark and it was still raining. I decided to drive north to see if we could at least find something on the road and maybe the rain would stop so we could go on a hike. Not long after leaving my son fell asleep so I decided to drive the very potholed and bumpy road very slowly and shine my flashlight on the foliage and trees out my window and see if I couldn't spot a frog, lizard or snake that way. The rain stopped and I was really hopeful. I drove north for quite a while and flipped around to head back south towards our rental. As I got closer to our rental and passed near a small lagoon I increased my concentration hoping to see something before maybe heading further south on the peninsula. It wasn't long after I increased my concentration that I spotted the familiar form of a snake stretched out in some branches off the side of the road in my flashlight beam. I stopped, put the car in park and got out to see if this was a figment of my imagination or not. Luckily this wasn't a figment of my imagination instead it was one of the snakes I really wanted to see on this trip. The pacific Tree Boa. It was likely out hunting for sleeping basilisk lizards or other lizards. My son was too tired to wake up and see the snake so i took some GPS coordinates of where it was found and bagged it up to show my family the next day with a plan to release it on our way north exactly where found. I was elated to find this wonderful snake and really wanted to share that find with my family.

2. A little closer when I got out of the car to check it out.
3. A photo of it overlooking the beach at our rental property. This habitat is not too different from where it was found down the road. I released it where found on our way to our next destination.
