Falsehorn Hoverfly in flight imitating a wasp. Here mimicry is perfectionated by holding its black forelegs above the head, feigning wasp's antennas.

I wanted to catch the dynamic nature of the great clouds on this morning along with the drama of the moment. I spent a little time in a Alien Skin Exposure and settled on a version of the FSA Red Bleach look. The color palette skews a little unnatural, but I liked the result anyway. Great skies are always fantastic, but when you can get them mirrored in a body of water....even better! A bleached explosion to make my morning!

not bad. pale orangey, and brownish orange at the tips. but i think tomorrow i'll run another color corrector process, more bleach on the tips (if i have to), and a toner session. then i'll be golden. or, with any luck, platinum. the color's pretty accurate in this.. the white balance isn't perfect on this pic, but our walls are actually yellow.
On the way to the boat tours of westernbrook pond. This bleached branch sat just off the path. The drama in the sky is real. We got soaked with a hard rain that started about 10 minutes after this shot was taken. Cowhead Newfoundland, Canada.

Taken last year in the Western Australia Desert near Laverton. Even 20 minutes after sunset, the bleached dead timber still stood out in the gathering gloom.

I've soaked my negatives in a lot of stuff over the years but this was the first time I tried bleach. Too much will take all color off the negative. A little diluted with water will allow you to remove three layers before your image vanishes: yellow first, then red, then blue.
I had a thing for the ferry shots earlier in the year I guess. Just cleaning up the archives. I hope you enjoy.
This image is undoubtedly the highlight of Petrina Hicks' work in the exhibition "Bleached Gothic". I was taken by the single viewer in such a large room staring at what one can only describe as a surreal image.
This is a revisit of yesterday's post. A slightly different angle revealing more of the contorted, tortured shape and with a better sky - patients is a hard thing to practice, but worth it if you can. I also think that square helps frame it better. All comments welcome
