Eastern Black Swallowtail [Papilio polyxenes] male

Sipping from echinacea

Lots of these beauties flitting between the gardens and flowers in Upper Beaches, Toronto. This is from my niece’s garden, on a beautiful, sunny and very hot day.

This is a male, of which there were many more than females. I took some shots of a couple of females, too, but they’re not great photos. They have fewer and less bright creamy yellow spots on the wings and more blue on the tail.

I think they’re beautiful!

A Peace Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds, and to help unite them in their search for world peace. Most (though not all) have been built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii (1885-1985), a Buddhist monk from Japan and founder of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order. Fujii was greatly inspired by his meeting with Mahatma Gandhi in 1931 and decided to devote his life to promoting non-violence. In 1947, he began constructing Peace Pagodas as shrines to World peace.

The first Peace Pagodas were built as a symbol of peace in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki where the atomic bombs took the lives of over 150,000 people, almost all of whom were civilian, at the end of World War II.

By 2000, 80 Peace Pagodas had been built around the world in Europe, Asia, and the United States.

Civilization is not to kill human beings, not to destroy things, not to make war; civilization is to hold mutual affection and to respect one another. -Most Ven. Fujii

The Peace Pagoda was awarded the Courage of Conscience award June 5, 1998 in Sherborn, MA.

The Peace Pagoda in San Francisco is a five-tiered concrete stupa in Nihonmachi (Japantown) and is located between Post and Geary Streets at Buchanan. It is part of the Japan Center complex which opened in 1968. It was designed by Japanese architect Yoshiro Taniguchi and presented to San Francisco by the people of Osaka, Japan.

The months of Ashar and Srabon of Bangla Calendar are the months of heavy rains. This season has featured in so many Bangla songs, poems and literature! The sound of rain drops falling on tin roof produces a symphony of romance and they say it reminds people of near and dear ones!

This picture and song is for someone very dear and special!!

Information: , surrounded by a wide moat, stands at the edge of the graceful Mastbos. The castle is first mentioned in documents dated 1554. In 1614 it was converted into a hunting lodge. Kasteel

Bouvigne borders on a beautiful garden. Nothing is known of landscape gardening in the16th century. The present garden is open to the public and integrates French, German and English styles of the 20th century. Bouvigne castle is a charming building outside Breda, in the Mastbos forest. Its present look dates mainly from the 17th century. For a long time, the princes of Orange used it as their summer house. The castle, that stands in the water, was built in a typical renaissance style. Its beautiful gardens are open to the public.

I admit this is kinda fun. Before I reveal what it is. I want to show this one. I was going to save it for Green Thursday but I won't be on Flickr next week.

Susan (sevenable) is onto something.....It's the same "stuff" used on the primrose.

Life happened today & now I'm back to check in. Catescott got the answer right. It is glycerin. It is alot of fun to play around with. It reacts totally different on some things but on other items it really did appear more like water. The light play in different on this surface which is actually my small dirty outside glass table not a granite counter top (I wish) :-) under direct sunlight reflection off the sky & trees etc. So go play around & I'd love to see what you come up with.

Without Marco (macps) on Flickr I wouldn't Have thought to do this, so the credit goes to him, I just took the photo & I will definitely share what it is & will look forward to what you brilliant people do with it, but want to show this & see if anyone can figure it out.

This shot goes out to our talented friend Rich. They offered us a place to stay the first few nights of our road trip which got us off to a great start. They were so hospitable it felt like home. We also had the chance to shoot with Joshua Cripps on the same stop as well. Thanks again Rich. for welcoming us to Cali in style :)

Mono Lake is such a magical place and a must see for everyone. All the tufas make the comps endless here. We also met Tessa from England here who was doing a very similar road trip from Seattle to Mono Lake...small world. Hi Tessa :)

And last but not least thanks to Vinny for helping me with the editing until i get my new computer. This did not take much though as the colors were truly blowing up there. The people standing around me with point & shoots were going crazy too.

If i have not gotten to your stream yet i will this weekend so please hang in there :) Thanks so much for stopping by and happy weekend to you friends!
