Wandering through the cosmos since the beginning of the Universe, Saturn seizes planets when they are ripe and full of life.
When the civilization that lives around it has used all of the resources of a planet and turned it back to its initial state, Saturn puts it back to its place, and waits for life to grow again.
My entry for the 1st Round of the 2019 Bio-Cup. My theme is Saturn.
In some myths, the escaping elder race of Man left behind a portal so the faithful could follow to utopia. But the tale is impossible to verify, for the caves it is said to hide in are lethally treacherous and block all communication. And what pilgrim, after surviving the labyrinthian trials that guard the door to paradise, would turn back to share it? Perhaps this is how the ancients guaranteed it always would be a test of faith...
My entry in round 3 of the Bio-Cup 2019! The theme was sci-fi architecture. It's hard to say what exactly inspired this build, but after stumbling through a few false starts I was struck with the idea and brought it to life. The architecture theme was certainly tricky, but I think it's taught me a few things and I'm happy with the result. So, enjoy the build and the rest of the Bio-Cup!

Entry for the Bio-Cup preliminary round. The theme was scary monsters and got me thinking about the moleman concept and how it could be augmented with details from the real-life star-nosed mole. Hope you enjoy!
Man reigned recklessly over the world, trampling Nature and spawning Machine to subjugate. When their pain grew too great, the hallowed Reaper rose from both to end the age of Man and free the world.
My entry in the preliminary round of the Bio-Cup 2019, for the theme Scary Monsters. Contemplating how little time we have to curb a climate catastrophe, and the machines we make that exploit rather than serve the world, I thought I could personify that most rational fear - for the future. This apocalyptic robo-druid was the result. More pictures in the album. Enjoy, and good luck in the Bio-Cup!

The Sun is voracious and ancient. It is content with sustaining our lands with its warmth and light, usually.
Built for Round 2 of the 2019 Bio-Cup. The theme was Disasters and this subtheme was Hot and Dry Meteorological. It got me thinking about heat waves and droughts and how their causes might have been rationalized in the past. People often used animal fables, so perhaps the sun might be characterized as a leech sucking the land dry. Ultimately this build ended up more eldritch than folkloric, but I still think it's an interesting concept!

I legitimately 100% build this for the Bio-Cup 2019 two years in advance, because I erased the Bio-Cup and leapt past it. This is the power of my 「KING CRIMSON」.
Hey folks! This is a build I made at University which I've been sitting on for a while. Unfortunately, I'll be going on a bit of a hiatus for the next few months whilst I apply for Graduate Medicine. There are a few builds I need to snap some pictures of still which I will probably get around to doing around September but in the meantime enjoy!
My entry for #Biocup2019 round 2. My theme was tecnogenic disaster so i made a Chernobyl liquidator from the cleanup unit

The wildfire devours the old forest, a disastrous destruction. Yet in destruction, there is rebirth: from the ashen aftermath, many plants reliant on the cleansing flames will grow anew. And their thriving is the meal on which the ravenous wildfire will one day dine once more. It is the natural flux of a diverse ecosystem: an ouroboros, which slays itself and brings itself to life.
My entry for Round 2 of the 2019 Bio-Cup, for the disaster Wildfire. As I researched the phenomenon I discovered that in many natural habitats wildfires are integral sources of renewal and biodiversity. I found myself fixated on this concept of wildfires as ouroboros, an ancient alchemical symbol of the cycle of death and rebirth. So I rendered this in bricks for this round. It was certainly an unusual build in terms of shape and perspective, but a very interesting one for me - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and good luck in the Bio-Cup!

"A build a day, for the month of May" is the challenge I declared for myself at the beginning of this month.
Build Notes: I wanted to create some kind of space/sci-fi creature thingy. I'm really happy how it turned out. My personal rating: 8/10
"And this Thing I saw! How can I describe it? A monstrous tripod, higher than many houses, striding over the young pine trees, and smashing them aside in its career; a walking engine of glittering metal, striding now across the heather; articulate ropes of steel dangling from it, and the clattering tumult of its passage mingling with the riot of the thunder."

My entry in Round 1 of the Bio-Cup 2019 - for the theme of Mars, of course. There were any number of directions to go with that, but I found myself drawn to a classic approach. More photos in this album. Enjoy, and good luck in the Bio-Cup!

My theme for this round is Saturn. The Roman god of the same name is an equivalent of a Greek chtonic deity Kronos (or Cronus) - the tyrannical leader of Titan race, god of time and harvest.
I attempted to build a rather dark interpretation of this character while retaining his classical attributes: scythe, sickle and hourglass.
These guys were built for a cat to destroy in my Bio-Cup Redemption Round entry.
I'm going to bend the rules of the canon a bit, but we have:
The Youthful Gali: The little highlights of Orange were such a great idea for Gali Uniter, they were just placed horribly. Hopefully I've done them right here. Also trident because that's aquatic.
The Prideful Tahu: Takes the most inspiration from the Master version of the character. Tried to go for some of classic version though with the sword(s).
The Stoic Kopaka: Sadly, no highlight color, although I suppose Tahu didn't either. Maybe the trans blue counts on the shield. And why a Rapier? I don't know, but it works in my opinion.
The Bruiser Onua: Yeah, I know, Onua's supposed to be the gentle, wise guy, but ever since we saw the Master version from 2015, I've always liked the idea of him going into some sort of berserker mode. And the shovel hands were always better than that silly hammer.
So where's Lewa and Pohatu? I actually did try making Lewa, but the Miru is the worst mask to try and make at this scale given the existing parts and the ones that I have, but I did try; eventually went with Kopaka to save time (plus the Akaku is the coolest mask, just saying.). Pohatu is also absent because I don't have the necessary part for the hips to go beyond four Toa. Also, the other parts probably don't exist, I never tried.

Redemption Round 2: Disasters
During dense fogs little dragons are lured by the dim light... right into the maw of the flying wyrm.
I've decided to take part in this year's Bio-Cup, but didn't have enough time for a proper entry. Still, I'm quite proud of this little guy, as I've discovered how the dragon's lower jaw could be attached to regular parts.
P.S. Cheers to Ben Cossy for featuring this model in his recent Bionicle Inspiration Series video.
I’m not quite sure what kind of bird this is but I just went to Greece last month and saw a painting of one of these things having sex with a woman and it really resonated with me. My tour guide told me it was the god Zeus, also known as Jupiter by the romans, so I think it was the best thing to make for the #biocup2019 losers bracket. But I’m not a loser please don’t call me that!

2019 Bio-Cup Round 1 Entry: The Moon
The Super Blood Moon Wolf is a rare species of werewolf that emerges, of course, only during a super blood wolf moon. The intense gravity of the moon in this phase makes its long hairs stand straight on end. However, despite its terrifying appearance, this misunderstood herbivore actually feeds peacefully only on the delicate petals of the Giant Moonflower. Unfortunately, habitat encroachment has forced this creature to forage for food at flower shops, and populations are dwindling as animal control captures and puts them to sleep.
