Atlas the pedestrian bridge spanning the Arkansas River between Jenks and Tulsa is going down, many great shots taken off this bridge by many people over the course of the almost 40 years of traffic. Look at the comments to see what was and what will be.

Big picture, big joy and all for free:)

Our trip to India was amazing and this was one of the little keepsakes we picked up at the Taj Mahal, a 40 Year Calendar. Moving the year to the current month (top right) , the days of the week are correctly displayed in the bottom window, it even caters for leap years! The whole disk only measures 4.5cm across so covering 40 years it really does give a very big picture of what's to come, and saves throwing away calendars every year!

I APPRECIATE THE FAVES BUT PLEASE DO NOT FAVE MY WHOLE STREAM, 6 TO 8 MAX, THANK YOU.

Conwy Town, Aberconwy, North Wales.

Conwy coordinates... 53.28°N 3.83°W

Conwy is a town rich in history, which much of it still preserved within the walls and traditional structures of its buildings. In the heart of it is the mighty 13th-century castle, whose walls encapsulate this remarkable medieval town.

Conwy Castle and the town walls were built, on the instruction of Edward I of England, between 1283 and 1289, as part of his conquest of the principality of Wales. The church standing in Conwy has been marked as the oldest building in Conwy and has stood in the walls of Conwy since the 14th century. However, the oldest structure is part of the town walls, at the southern end of the east side. Here one wall and the tower of a Llys [palace/court house] belonging to Llywelyn the Great and his grandson Llywelyn ap Gruffydd have been incorporated into the wall. Built on a rocky outcrop, with an apsidal tower, it is a classic, native, Welsh build and stands out from the rest of the town walls, due to the presence of four window openings. It dates from the early 13th century and is the most complete remnant of any of his Llys.

English follows

Noctilucent clouds, a special phenomenon that can sometimes be observed in the north around the longest days of the year.

The clouds do not give light themselves, but because the sun does not come far below the horizon, it still shines on the clouds.

The clouds consist of fine grit and dust with a wafer-thin ice or frost layer around it. The grit and dust comes from meteorites burned during entry into the atmosphere. The water vapor at that altitude can also come from meteorites, but also from rocket exhaust, volcanic eruptions and the chemical breakdown of methane. The temperature at the altitude where the clouds are located is -90 to -145 degrees. It is precisely at this time of year that temperatures are lowest at that altitude, which makes it easier for ice crystals to form on the grit, making the clouds visible.

Thanks for taking time to fave, comment and look at my work. I really appreciate.

People were out roaming on the cliffs by the west coast today, they are quite tiny, or maybe it is the scenery that is so grand!

It lasted for a long time. I kept thinking it would end, and it remained in the same place until the light faded away into the night.

Detail from of a big piece of street art, tagged "@Frodrik", there's a related Instagram account showing more of their work.

The woman in the picture appears to look across the canal north of Glasgow city centre to the old Whisky Bond.

For this theme, I've taken a detail of the image (it's a full face) and removed perspective distortion.

I particularly like the touches of brick colour showing through the paint in what is otherwise a B&W image.

Captured from the Glyders Snowdonia this is a highly recommend walk if visiting the area, it is a spectacular ridge with some if not the best views of Snowdonia and the surrounding areas.

Big Picture, Tim Lowly © 1997, 120" x 120", tempera on panel. Private collection, Seoul, Korea.

This painting was part of an exhibition at Art Space Seoul in Korea. It was the first of several large paintings I have made where I intentionally engaged the convention of “the big picture” as the territory of politically or religiously charged spectacle. In size Big Picture, references the painting Las Meninas by Velázquez: a painting that in itself subverts convention. In Las Meninas, Velázquez’s most important painting as the court painter, he chose to include and emphasize the representation people who were in service in the court (including himself) while relegating the king and queen to a reflection in the mirror. Implicitly, but not insignificantly the viewers of the painting are standing where the reflected royalty should (according to the mirror) be standing. In a parallel manner the painting Big Picture,’s use of a rather compelling perspective (particularly for anyone who is in the room with the actual painting) situates the viewer of the painting in the painting. Let me rephrase this latter point: the way this work is functioning is such as to place the viewer into the world of the painting. As such to the extent that the painting is spectacle it is not one that allows or encourages a passive, removed observation.
