.....un mot qui vient de l'ancien français "bider", qui a disparu depuis longtemps de notre vocabulaire et qui signifiait "trotter". Ces chansonnettes sont souvent très anciennes et parfois utilisent un vocabulaire ou des tournures qui nous surprennent. Ici, voici le papillon et non le cheval qui est entrain de trotter sur le coeur de l'anémone du Japon effeuillée.
Le Piéride du chou est un papillon très commun dont la chenille se nourrit essentiellement de la feuille de choux.
Elle peut engendrer de sérieux dégât au potager.

These vedovelle(widow) were designed in 1931 and the original design, named Fontanella Milano, can still be seen in the city archives. Their popularity over the years has not diminished, it seems, and the fountains are still produced and sold to people to display in their private homes. The fountains are made from cast iron and were painted green to blend with the rest of the public amenities of the time; benches, public telephones and the like. If you look closely at the little spout, you will notice that it is actually a dragon’s head made from brass, which spurts the steady stream of water from its mouth. These diminutive dragons are a replica of their cousins, the doccione or gargoyles, that perch amongst the spires on top of the Duomo, draining the rain that collects on the rooftop and dribbling it out their mouths. If you are feeling thirsty, place your finger in the dragons mouth and cut off the stream of water, this will cause it to spurt out the top of the dragons head like a small fountain making it easier for you to take a sip. (Please note that this works only for the little fountains you find at ground level). Upon even closer inspection of some of the vedovelle, you might find a little shield, beneath the head of the dragon, bearing the familiar colours of the Italian flag as well as the emblem of the city of Milan
I'm jealous because I don't have one. Bought the hummingbirds a couple of solar powered fountains. Took a while but they finally use them.

The region constituted by the Serra da Pescaria and by the Bouro mountain constituted, in geological times, a single island. When it was divided it gave rise to the bay of São Martinho do Porto.
In historical times, the village was mentioned for the first time in a letter passed in 1257 by Friar Estevão Martins, 12th abbot of the Monastery of Alcobaça. The bay was the sea port of Alcobaça, where activities related to fishing and shipbuilding were developed. It had, in 1801, 932 inhabitants. In 1839 the parishes of Alfeizerão, Salir do Porto and Serra do Bouro were annexed. It had, in 1849, 3,596 inhabitants.
Given the local development and the construction of the pier, already around 1885 the neighborhood of the beach came to remember a second village.
It was constituted has a seaside resort frequented by the nobility and the bourgeoisie since the end of the 19th century, becoming known as the "bidet of the marquees"

On my first visit to Paris during 1972, I stayed in the Latin Quarter. I found it to be one of the most moodily cool places I'd ever seen. It was oozing the ghosts of Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Picasso, and Stein. I was sharing a cheap flea bitten room with a guy I met on the plane. The hotel had one water closet per floor. Of course our room, like most rooms in France at the time contained a bidet and being twenty year's old and inexperienced in the ways of the world I mistook it for a toilet. Luckily, my roomie explained it to me before I could try it out.
"It's a bidet," he said.
"A bi-what?" I asked. He explained the function to me, and forever encumbered by the knowledge, I went off to wait in the line down the hall for the real loo.

Josiah McElheny is concerned about the fragmentation of information in our time. He believes that truth is not malleable, yet it can grow. "There are so many new forms of knowledge we never sought out—that is where the opportunities lie." He reflects on this in his "trompe-l’œil paintings," as he calls them himself. Through a clever play of mirrors, he offers a glimpse into infinite and fragmented mirrored worlds. The hand-blown, mirrored vases and urns allude to vessels discovered in the 1940s. These contained ancient manuscripts—fragments of knowledge from bygone eras. He was also inspired by *The Library of Babel* (1941) by Jorge Luis Borges (1899–1986), in which the author describes a universe in the form of an infinite library with hexagonal galleries containing every conceivable book.

Wie de storm wil trotseren, moet haar oog binnenstappen – terugkomen tot de kern, de plek waar stilte heerst en helderheid ontstaat. Dat is precies wat de collectietentoonstelling Stilte in de storm van Voorlinden biedt: een moment van bezinning in een wervelende wereld. In de tentoonstelling tonen verschillende kunstenaars dat stilte een bron van kracht is – en een zacht, standvastig antwoord kan bieden op de storm die ons omringt.

Josiah McElheny maakt zich zorgen over de fragmentatie van informatie in onze tijd. Hij gelooft dat de waarheid niet kneedbaar is, maar welk an groeien. ‘Er zijn zoveel nieuwe vormen van kennis waar we nooit naar hebben gezoch – daar liggen de kansen.’ Hij reflecteert hierop in zijn ‘trompe-l’oeil-schilderijen’, zo als hij ze zelf noemt. Dankzij een slim spel met spiegels bidet hij een kijkje in oneindige en gefragmenteerde spiegel-werelden. De handgeblasen, spiegelende vazen en urnen verwijzen naar kruiken die in de jaren vertig werden gevonden. Daarin zaten eeuwenoude manuscripten; fragmenten van kennis uit vervlogen tijden. Hij werd bovendien geïnspireerd door ‘De bibiotheek van Babel’ (1941) van Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986), waarin hij een universum beschrijft in de vorm van een oneindige bibliotheek met zeshoekige galerijen, die alle denkbare boeken bevat.

he loved so much sleeping there... (and he drunk only using the bidet's tap)
so.. when we bought the new flat.. we decided to buy a bidet like the old one for the new bathroom...
and yes... this love never ended...
