NO ... this is not yet another one of Hollister's attempts to escape Blythe Fifth Avenue ...
Just a glorious, wonderful, AWESOME day at the Apple Orchards in California ~ where, much to our surprise upon arrival, the local hills were engulfed in MORNING FOG!!
THANKS to our photographer, Wonderlandfan (Karin) ... she did a SUPERB job at taking this photo of Hollister and me, in our LOOK-ALIKE outfits!

DAY 15: "WALK ON A FOGGY MORNING"

So, I've been busy.
Busy trying to work out if wedding-photography is the way forward. And I have to say, I have thoroughly enjoyed this new venture over the past couple of years.
My apologies to all my friends, here on Flickr for the lack of activity. In truth, I spend much of my time on Instagram nowadays; mostly motivated by guilt; guilt that I don't spend as much time editing images as I ought, on my laptop, using Lightroom. Instead, I snap away on my camera, using basic jpg: quickly upload to my mobile phone, and edit via Snapseed, before sharing on Instagram.
Flickr, for me, is reserved for my best images; ones which I have taken the time to carefully edit...
So, here's to continued adventures. I hope you're all well.
it was abandoned in our parking lot at work
next to a silver sequin purse
one ugg
a broken plate with spaghetti written on it
a used baseball glove
and a torn up bookshelf thing
i knew the minute i saw it that photos would have to be taken
we sat in it.
took photos.
threw it in the vanagon.
took it to the beach.
took more photos.
people came up to us smiling
laughing
asking what the hell we were doing
the lifeguard commented on the juxtaposition
they wanted to have their photo taken in it
we did that
exchanged emails so we could share
then dragged the chair back to the van
back to where it was dumped
brushed the sand off our feet.
returned to work
thankful for the adventure
glad to have given the chair one last experience
one last venture
possibly the best it had ever had
And now see it here!!! blog.flickr.net/en/2012/05/02/a-journey-of-inspiration/
this is Erin, Grace, Anna, Saydi, & I.
thank you flickr, for the lovely screen shot.
I don't know what happened to the quality either.
I've had a wonderful, wonderful weekend.
Meet Pete Fields, the place or person.
This is only a small glimpse of how great it was, and I have plenty of pictures to upload later.
usually I wouldn't upload videos, but this one was just too great to pass up.
here is the full video. (:
I could watch this over and over.
It's been a winter of "best-of" days. But last Thursday may have been the best of the best-ofs. We had nearly three feet of snow in two days with 17 inches of blower, overnight. This is Alta GM Mike Maughan, coming up for air after being completely in the white room. I got about eight great shots from this set and he was only recognizable in a couple of frames. In most of them all you can see is googles or pole. It's good to have a boss who skis like a boss :-)
My beloved daughter was married last weekend.
The wedding took place during a sunset ceremony at The Roman Baths, Bath
Happy happy sigh
It's just another rainy day in London...

The original idea when planning Rile’s wedding at our home, was to have food trucks along our driveway to supply all food One for appetizer, one for the main meal, one for the bar, etc. This is the main course food truck.

At the bar, after a long day on the Hill. In the interest of full disclosure, this is actually a 2nd day 77 shot, and I didn't get a shot for day 78. But it's my YIP, and I'm taking it for day 78. Without any reference to the user's manual.
It truly was an amazing day. I went with 2 treasured friends and colleagues and met with staffers of our elected officials (our congressman remembered me - geek out!), we talked health care and the extension of section 127 plans (employer reimbursed education expenses, tax-free, are set to sunset at the end of this year.) And we were getting ready to spend the evening at the Library of Congress for a catered event.
The conference was amazing (if you haven't read Womenomics, you need to), and I loved every minute of it.
I know I'm a total geek, but it really didn't suck.
(for the record, day 78 got off to a great start but quickly declined after TOO MANY HOURS IN DALLAS, and then 3 attempts to land in Albuquerque, a reroute to El Paso - can I pleeze just get tfo out TX? - and home about 4 hours late. because of a BLIZZARD in Albuquerque. in March. ugh. and seemingly, through all the drama, I couldn't find a thing to take a shot of. eh.)
I apologize in advanced for any ramblings or confusing sentences. I'm actually really sick right now [yay earache and sinus infection combo!] and a bit weird. So please keep that in mind when reading.
A few nights ago, I was on craigslist. Occasionally I search it for Blythe dolls and hardly anything ever pops up. I checked the local craigslist and one thread was simply titled "Kenner Blythe Dolls". I clicked and saw a very small, very bad photo of five Kenner Blythe dolls.
I've never emailed someone so quick! The listing said to call but it was late and I didn't want to be rude. I called the next morning and talked to the poster. He had post on behalf of his mom, who still had all five available, and said that they were given to her by her dad.
Her dad worked for Kenner. I about dropped the phone.
About two days later, many texts and emails later, my mom and I were headed to Milford to pick them up. We're both sick. Neither one of us minded the one hour drive though.
We arrived at their house and on their cute dining room table were the five dolls. I couldn't believe my eyes. They were real Kenners. Right there. We'd worked out a group price and they were on hold. For me.
For a day that I didn't want to get out of bed (like I said, I'm sick and feel pretty darn bad), I am SO glad I did.
We sat down and discussed the dolls with the seller, Sandra. She said she was about 12-13 years old and her dad brought them home to her. After Kenner stopped producing them, Blythe dolls were given to employees. She said for a long time she thought her dad had worked on making Blythe but her mom recently had corrected her. Sandra explained that by the age she got them, she was too old for dolls so they were in her bedroom on shelves but never really were played with. I could not believe it. Just outside of Cincinnati, I was getting five dolls that had been just given away in 1973. They're true Cincinnati Kenners. It might sound silly but her story made me smile. I believe she kept them all these years because her father passed away a few years after she got them.
My mom and I freaked out in the car on the way home. I took them out of the bag that I'd gotten them in and kept them on my lap, repeatedly saying "Shut up! This is not real. Am I dreaming? HOLY CRAP! This happened?!" and so on.
They're all in fairly wonderful condition and very pink! The light brunettes have some green in their hair from sunlight and one is missing a pullstring. They're gorgeous though! I'll do my best to post some more photos later, just thought I'd upload my rambling and exciting story now. :)
It's been a pretty amazing day.
