Cathedral of St. Alexander in Bergamo was built on the site where church of St. Vincent. In the Middle Ages, Bergamo had two cathedrals: St. Alexander and St. Vincent. In 1561, the Venetians demolished the church of St. Alexander, and they built defensive walls here. From August 1697, Bergamo has one cathedral dedicated to St. Alexander, and it became the church that was previously dedicated to St. Vincent. The dome was rebuilt in the years 1851-1853, and on its top stands the statue of St. Alexander. In 2004 the main altar was rebuilt.
On the left side of the nave is a chapel, called the Crucifix Chapel in which the so-called Rosate crucifix dating from 1810 and considered miraculous.

Katedra św. Aleksandra została zbudowana na miejscu, gdzie wcześniej wznosił się kościół św. Wincentego. W średniowieczu Bergamo miało dwie katedry: św. Aleksandra i św. Wincentego. Wenecjanie w 1561 zburzyli kościół św. Aleksandra, a w tym miejscu wznieśli mury obronne. Od sierpnia 1697 roku Bergamo ma jedną katedrę pod wezwaniem św. Aleksandra, a został nią kościół, który wcześniej był pod wezwaniem św. Wincentego. Przebudowy kopuły dokonano w latach 1851-1853, a na jej szczycie wznosi się statua św. Aleksandra. W 2004 dokonano przebudowy ołtarza głównego.
Po lewej stronie nawy jest kaplica, nazywana Kaplicą Krucyfiksu w której przechowywany jest tzw. Krucyfiks z Rosate pochodzący z 1810 i uważany za cudowny.

This former Monastery (Monastero di Sant'Agostino) now is accomodating the university of Bergamo. I made a HDR combination and reduced color intensity to show the fine structures of wall of this beautiful building.
