The Krall Barn is believed to be the oldest existing log barn in Lebanon County. The effort to save it first kicked off in 2007, when the structure, then located east of Schaefferstown, was saved from destruction by a cooperating owner, Howard Scharff, who worked with Schaefferstown’s Bill Ross by offering to donate the barn if it was dismantled. The way it stands now, most of the exterior of the Krall Barn is nearly complete. But there are many smaller, inside projects yet to be tackled. The education center is expected to make it easier for visitors to enjoy their time at the 110 acre historic site that features three locks of the Union Canal, an engineering feat visited by none less than President George Washington himself during its construction.

Panoramic view over Patzcuaro lake, Michoacan state, Mexico before sunset. The elevation of the lake is about 2100m. (7000ft) so the climate is quite cool despite being in the tropics, especially in the wet season. This photo was taken from a volcanic hill about 200m, higher than lake level and it got quite chilly after sundown. I spent a few days there relaxing as it was the midpoint of my last trip, there will be quite a few uploads from this spot in the coming days. Michoacan state has had a dangerous reputation recently, with alarming travel advice from governments making people believe tourists will be kidnapped and skinned alive the moment they step over to Michoacan, my experience was completely the opposite, it was one of the most tranquil places I visited. Michoacan is actually one of my favorite states in Mexico.
