We believe this pretty lady is an offspring of our old friend Mama who passed away last summer. Mumsy chose our shed to give birth and raise her five babies this year. She was most likely born in this shed herself and is familiar with our surroundings and the sounds of my husband and I and our dogs. She's very friendly and smart just as her mother was. Her babies seem healthy. We keep contact with them very limited for their own protection as we don't want them to be too trusting of humans. Unfortunately most people around here would rather shoot them than try to live with them.

Many people like to believe in the idea of a soul, and we often look to the empirical world to bolster our religious or spiritual beliefs, searching for corroborating physical evidence. Just such scientific proof seemed to come in 1907,when a Massachusetts doctor named Duncan MacDougall devised experiments that he expected would actually measure the soul. Using six terminally ill patients on a specially-constructed scale bed, he measured their weight before, during, and after death. His results were mixed, but he concluded that there was indeed a very slight loss of weight, 21 grams on average.
A cliché, absolutely, did I enjoy setting it up and taking the image and the processing of said shot, definitely.....i don't believe in clichés in photography if the person taking the shot enjoys the experience and is happy with the result it is not a cliché, just my thoughts.

The Krall Barn is believed to be the oldest existing log barn in Lebanon County. The effort to save it first kicked off in 2007, when the structure, then located east of Schaefferstown, was saved from destruction by a cooperating owner, Howard Scharff, who worked with Schaefferstown’s Bill Ross by offering to donate the barn if it was dismantled. The way it stands now, most of the exterior of the Krall Barn is nearly complete. But there are many smaller, inside projects yet to be tackled. The education center is expected to make it easier for visitors to enjoy their time at the 110 acre historic site that features three locks of the Union Canal, an engineering feat visited by none less than President George Washington himself during its construction.

The Old Weir Bridge is an ancient bridge located in Killarney National Park in County Kerry, Ireland. It is a twin arch bridge made of stone.
The bridge is situated at the spot known as the "Meeting of the Waters", where the three Killarney lakes meet. The waters from the Upper Lake flow into the Middle (or Muckross Lake) and Lough Leane.
The actual age of the bridge is unclear, but believed to date back to the sixteenth century.

The older I get the more I begin to believe that the lifespan of the human species is finite. I think there is no question that at some point in the future we will manage to exterminate ourselves. Which when you think about it is superbly ironic for supposedly the most intelligent life form on this planet! Perhaps we should ask the ants and the rats for advice because I'm sure like these wonderful old trees they will out survive us and go on to thrive long after we have either blown ourselves to smithereens or managed to pollute ourselves out of existence.

I believe that this is a False Potato Beetle. I was out doing macro photography yesterday and when I came home this beauty was on my front door. It was like it was waiting for me. I moved it to my garden and got some photos before it disappeared. Photographed in Maryland..
