As an beginner photographer, I discovered Flickr in May of this year and I've come to appreciate all of you who encourage and support my photos through your positive and heartwarming comments. They mean a lot to me and I appreciate them. Thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing many more of your wonderful shots in 2019.

In my short career as an amateur photographer, I have only participated in one photography award.
Along with other photos, I could submit a piece that had a theme or told a story, so I submitted this triptich.
I found interesting to use the culture and historical tradition of a town close to where I live. The town is Paterna (Valencia). In it there are caves excavated in the rock and in the ground that have historically been used as homes. Sequences from one of Almodóvar's last film have been shot in this town and in one of the caves.
To cut long story short: near the caves there is a historic medieval tower in which I decided to tell the story through three images... well, I sent the photos but the organization never contacted me, not even to tell me that I was selected or discarded, and unfortunately, this is how the story with these photographs ends.
My dream as a beginner photographer was that somehow my work would be considered, even if it wasn't awarded. It was not so.
I never knew what was wrong with this and I got a little frustrated.
Here you have as a triptich the photos I presented: inicio, nudo y desenlace (start, middle knot and ending), basically the three elements that make up a written or narrated story.

This is a remake of one of my favorite photos I ever took from 2012. An extraordinary experience I won't bore you with. I was just a beginner photographer, and was in awe ... so didn't do so well. Only shot in .JPG as I did for so many years. I edit and reedit this photo over and over. It's not perfect, but it's a perfect way to wish anyone who visits a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
I'm pretty sure these are Osceola Wild Turkey also known as the Florida Turkey which can only be found on the Florida peninsula. This bird is smaller and darker in color than the Eastern Wild Turkey and was named after the famous Seminole Chief Osceola in 1890.

This is my entry for the Ribbon section of the 2008 Canon Photo5 competition. It took hundreds of attempts and re-re-re-re-evauation of the setup, lighting etc (i'm a beginner photographer and strobist). I've learnt sooo much through doing this though, especially about lighting and flashes.

This is the view from the backside of the main dome at the Griffith Obvervatoty. It probably wasn't the best day to visit here. The place was packed with tourist and photographers and I noticed a group of people taking a photography workshop. So I sat around just off earshot so I could listen to the instructor. It seemed to be a class for beginner photographers because the instructor was teaching very basic camera operation and principles. It was the first time I had been to the observatory in 20 years. I think I need to go back on a rainy weekday. :)

When taking a Photo (when making a story) a photographer requires The Third Eye. Now-a-days beginner photographers tend to stuck with cameras, all the technical stuffs, framing, composition etc. But they forget the philosophy of photography. It's the curse on photographers inner eye. God Bless Us!!!

Hello, my name is Zach and I am a true beginner photographer. I started my photography journey in February of 2023 without knowing a single thing about ISO, Exposure, F-Stops, composition, or photo editing.
This is one of the first photos I've ever taken and edited. I am somewhat happy with it for such an early shot in my collection. I think the warmth and brightness feels very inviting. I think the subject isn't the most exciting, but overall, I do feel like it's exposed correctly.

Strauss is nearly 12 years of age and I have struggled to get enough light and detail into photographing this wonderful animal, but I think today is probably the best shot I have taken of him so far. Happy to have any feedback and comments as to how I could improve as I am still a beginner photographer.
Rebecca came to me saying she wanted "Anti-senior" Senior portraits, she is a beginner photographer. So we went into my magical little world and created this. Im still working on an epic title, but this is one of new favorite images.

Taken at the park the other day when it was REALLY windy. I managed to get a few pics of birds!! I don't know what was making me shake more... the windy wind or just being excited about getting a closeup of a bird. lol. If you don't know, I'm a beginner photographer. Although I get excited when something exciting happens anyways. ;-)
I can't wait to capture other animals with this lens. There were ducks at the lake, and I got pics of them (you'll see), but they were really far away. Something to look forward to - getting pics of them closer up. :-)

Sometimes I think it is better not to follow what's new out there. For camera gear for example, there's always new lenses and new digital cameras coming out. In my case I think I would like the new Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 and most specially the M. Zuiko 75mm f/1.8. Do I need it, hell no. Do I want it, a big YES! To be honest, I'm better without it. The ones I have are good enough, actually excellent enough to make excellent quality photographs. It's more the person behind it, me that needs to be great or skillful to produce great photos. I think it would actually make a lot of beginner photographers better if they focus on what they have rather than focus on what's new out there.

Some shots with Kt, taken at a Aiya Waterfall in Awajishima! We were wondering for a while should we go in the waterfall or not... yeah as you can see we did! ;) And of course got pretty wet there, these are my favorite type of photoshoots, when everyone gets messed up! lol
There was pretty cool sunlight at the location, coming from high above, and still I wanted to use some more light, so set up a Softbox right form the model, tied good to the fence, because it was quite windy there!
I uploaded setup & backstage shots in the first comment of the photo!
