Ten minutes before sundown and I knew that if I stopped my hasty retreat off the hills to take a shot of this storm pelting down over Cheshire, then I'd be drenched by the rest of it that was approaching me from behind...so I stopped, as you do, got drenched, as you do, then sat in the rain pummelled car with a huge, wet Cheshire Cat grin on my face, as you do! :-)

We haven't been to Dauset Trails Nature Center since the pandemic over 2 years now. So, since things are opening up we decided it was time for a short trip, and a much needed change of scenery!
Our first stop was the Lotus Pond at the edge of the woods, and just a short walk from the parking lot. The gazebo is new but that bench to the right is much closer and offers a better view. And, what a view, too. The pond with all the lotus blooming seemed bigger and better than ever
*** It was a big ordeal, waking up early in order to beat the heat, packing iced water, bug spray, hats to block the sun, and of course our cameras! Still not sure what was worse - the heat or the waking up early part?!
