Knowing the signalling protocols of this area, the red lights say it all. No point waiting for a train here, there's nothing coming! Nice atmospheric morning though.

Örskär island, the sky announces a windy night, may be a storm.../Örskärsfyren vid skymningen, himlen meddelar att en blåsig natt nalkas, kanske en storm.../El faro de la isla de Örskär, el cielo anuncia una noche ventosa, tal vez una tormenta...

Old Beacon, Llanddwyn Island, Newborough Warren, Anglesey, Wales.

For the last few summers we've done a family trip to Block Island and I would always see this Lighthouse in the distance from the Ferry and wanted to capture it but we always came back late. This time was no different except the fog was so thick.

I decided to at least go by there and see if I could capture it. What I didn't know was that this was a working Coast Guard station and that it was fenced in. There may have been a way to capture it from the beach and compose the fence out of the scene but it was so dark and with the visibility was really poor so I didn't want to take a chance.

The mood was just to good to walk away without capturing anything so I took this shot handheld and through a chain link fence. It's not very sharp or as good as I wanted but I loved the effect of the light hitting the fog.

Ninepin rock appears to have a lighthouse, but it is only a beacon. Known for rock fishing, but safety is a concern on this rugged beach.

"I had let want in, opened the door ever so slightly. But want without the belief you can get what you want is pointless. You have to hope, so I let that in too. You have to. To want things and go for them and believe, even in impossible situations...Hope was what you had when you had nothing else. Hope was the perfect shiny top on the Christmas tree, the glowing halo of every wish, the endless beacon of a lighthouse bringing tormented ships home at last."- Deb Caletti

Corn Du, Pen-y-fan, and Cribyn...September 2018, Brecon Beacons , Wales, UK

Plettenberg Bay - Western Cape, South Africa

Wanted to share a message from the Director of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology:

"I often talk about the power of birds, but this year they take on an even more powerful meaning. They enliven our days, brighten the trees, serenade in our backyards and city parks, and bestow us with so much joy and hope, all bundled together in feathers and lively personalities."

Working in a hospital is a bit stressful these days, but when I get home the birds take me away from it all.

Let's stay connected, if needed dust off those archives!
