Paracord canteen cover, 1L Flat Pack Canteen from County Comm. Mostly done with basic square knotting/macrame knot work, with finishing up the bottom causing quite a bit of consternation, settling with some sewing to end it. 200+ feet of paracord used...
I was first in line for cataract surgery this morning. Once finished I rolled out passed the rest of the people who were waiting for their turn. I was happy to tell them "it was a piece of cake!".
I was never a boy scout but follow the scouts' motto: Be Prepared! Hence the big cat bag of tissues, snacks, wallet, sunglasses, diabetic supplies, surgery information, CAMERA, etc.
I think that cat bag almost makes me look small.
A shot of an earthquake-triggered landslide on south coast of Haiti near village of Nan Diamant as a result of the M7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010. According to official estimates, the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti injured 300,000 people, displaced 1.3 million, and left 97,294 houses destroyed and 188,383 damaged in Port-au-Prince and much of southern Haiti. This large, shallow earthquake produced violent shaking in Léogâne, west of Port-au-Prince. This shaking level can cause damage even to well-built buildings anywhere in the world.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing - 2015
On the way upThe Devils Staircase before entering the South Crater, we start to wonder where the path has gone! Winding up and through jagged rocks as the mist thickens, the weathered sign give a glimpse of how harsh life gets up here.
Wolfie wanted to join the Police force for the DNC here in Charlotte this week. He is prepared for anything.

"The Scout Motto is:
Be Prepared.
A child falls into water- a Scout is prepared to save it. Someone breaks
an arm -a Scout is prepared with first aid. A burning building, a life in
danger- a scout is prepared, because he is trained and knows in advance
what to do.
To 'Be Prepared' you must KNOW WHAT to do, and you must be trained in HOW
to do it."

The scouts motto is "Be Prepared". Last January we suffered terrible floods with houses and cars submerged as people were unable to escape the rising waters.
Obviously the authorities were concerned about the local bus services, so a more robust SOLUTION was needed.
Just kidding really :-)
Scouting, also known as the Scout Movement, is a worldwide youth movement with the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, that they may play constructive roles in society.
Scouting began in 1907 when Robert Baden-Powell, Lieutenant General in the British Army, held the first Scouting encampment at Brownsea Island in England.
The Scout Motto, 'Be Prepared', has been used in various languages by millions of Scouts since 1907. Less well-known is the Scout Slogan, 'Do a good turn daily'.
For our #ThrowBackThursday today, we're sharing a shot of some of the damage to the Washington National Cathedral in DC that resulted from the M5.8 earthquake that struck Virginia on August 23, 2011 (this photo was taken in Aug. 2011). The earthquake was felt by an estimated one-third of the U.S. population. Many people who felt the earthquake weren't sure what they were experiencing, initially, and as a result were not as prepared to drop, cover, and hold on like many in the western U.S. that experience more frequent earthquake events.
Recently, we updated the National Seismic Hazard Maps which show the eastern U.S. has the potential for larger and more damaging earthquakes than considered in previous maps and assessments due to the research from the 2011 event. Regardless of where you live, you should learn to be prepared to react appropriately in the event that you experience an earthquake. Learn more about earthquake preparedness before, during, and after an earthquake at: ready.gov/earthquakes.

An EDC Forums member had recently asked about replacing the zipper pulls on a backpack, so I put the three photos from my blog post in a collage to share. It's no lock, but it will keep the zippers from accidentally opening...
Red TAC Link carabiner attached to my VENOM RED drawstring backpack. I added pineapple and gaucho knots to the carabiner with black County Comm tether cord and red Atwood Utility cord.

Handle wrap tied with a single 17+ foot length of 1.4mm black nylon cord(mini blind string/trot line from 'mowfugger' on ebay). tinyurl.com/9uwfdyy
Tied a 5 lead 4 bight Turk's head knot at handle guard end, made into a Gaucho knot, ran the strand up the handle, through the lanyard hole, back down the other side, and around one bight of the TH knot.
Then wrapped the cord up around the handle, going under/over the vertical strand up to the lanyard hole, then finished with another Gaucho knot.
The Pico Grappling Hook is from County Comm. You know you need one on your EDC key ring for those times when something is just out of reach, and a grappling hook with some paracord would fit the bill for a quick recovery mission. ;)
Maroon and olive drab two peg spool knit paracord lanyards. Shown with Grins and Emerson Schmuckatelli Co skull beads with swivel snap hooks(1/2" round eye 2" long cdwplus.com).
A photo of a couple projects using the blue 1.4mm and 0.9mm orange cord, that I recently purchased from R&W Rope, with Gaucho and Spanish ring knots.
Knotwork added to a Grimlok carabiner and Olight S10 Baton LED flashlight. EDC pocket carry items.
My fingertips were a bit blue after working with the cord, but that's been my experience with other darker colors from several sources. I still like the cord as it handles and feels good to work with, and maybe the dye rubbing off is something that can be improved on by manufacturers in the future.
I tied these knots following the diagrams from John Shaw's book, 'The Directory of Knots'.
The 'Ichabod' and 'Gibbet' knots are sliding loop(noose) type knots, the 'Broach' knot is a fixed loop, and the front and back sides of the 'Arms-Akimbo' lanyard knot are shown, all tied with paracord.
Gold paracord woven bracelet, with this pattern also called fishtail and switchback strap, with black 1.4mm cord stitched down the center.

There's enough room to keep my little finger in the paracord loop section of the lanyard/fob for added retention to keep from dropping/losing the knife like while in a boat, on a dock, up a ladder, etc...
The ungutted navy blue paracord is tied with two-strand wall knots and a two-strand stopper knot, and the pineapple knot is tied with a gutted orange paracord base knot of a 5 lead 4 bight Turk's head knot with gutted white(glow-in-the-dark) paracord added in with the pineapple interweave around a wooden bead.
Tied a three pass Gaucho knot, with 0.9mm cord, around the Leatherman Brewzer. I swapped out the Gerber Shard to give the Brewzer tool, which is smaller & lighter, a test run with the crowded keychain EDC carry...
Been a member of the Bag group for awhile, got bored today and decided to clean out the purse.
After looking at the LCP I decided that a thin plastic bag would work better.
Map link shows where I parked the car on a hike yesterday.
I started with a long two bight Turk's head knot in gray paracord, 31 lead/part doubled and worked in the pineapple knot pattern with midnight blue, and with around 40+ feed of cord worked around a length of pvc pipe had a loose knot of almost two feet long.
I slipped it off the pipe and onto a rifle cleaning rod to gradually tighten it up, a few hours worth of work so far, and it was tightened down to about one foot long, not counting the snap hook and bow shackle attachments done with a separate length of midnight blue.
Getting that separate attachment length pulled through the almost too tight pineapple knot was a chore in itself, but I finally managed to pull it through with the patch attachment for the rifle cleaning rod, lol..
I still have to trim and tuck the ends and will go back with needle and thread to further secure them in place for the finished lanyard.
Paracord key fob with Gemini Twins pewter skull bead, a cross whistle pendant with leather sailor's cross knot, a titanium skull pocket pry tool with 0.9mm cord Gaucho knot tied on it and added a couple of rubber o-rings to hold a phillips screwdriver bit in the wrench cut out section, and a Maratac AAA LED flashlight with leather Gaucho knot, on a cable key ring.
A video for tying the two-strand stopper knot is shown in my recent blog post: stormdrane.blogspot.com/2013/11/gemini-twins-and-tomahawk...
