You may think my number one priority is to teach you Jiu Jitsu. This is not true. My number one priority is your safety. Safety from your training partners and safety from oneself. To me, this is of the utmost importance. Many times I feel like a bouncer ready to break up a fight. If I'm stuck watching the room like a hawk, that means I can't roll. If I can't roll... 😢 Please be safe.

You may think my number two priority is to teach you Jiu Jitsu. This is also not true. My number two priority is to create an environment that is condusive to learning and fosters comraderie. The majority of our training \ rolls are for advancing our game, not to accumulate "wins" in the training room. There are no medals in the training room. Multiple people have come to me stating they want to train, but they "can't afford another injury." What the hell is going on? Respect yourself and your training partners. Introduce yourself. Say hello. How many times have you rolled with someone and you didn't even catch their name? What's up with that!?

Is this too much to ask? I feel we are making great progress, but too many times someone gets sidelined with an injury and has to sit. Or someone is bleeding on the mat. It feels like we start all over again. Let's train smart.

With that said, I promise to teach you great jiu jitsu.
