...with another heat wave burning though the 518 area this week, last night was no exception. With fans running to cool down the house, I drifted off to a slumber by the whirling and humming of mechanical breeze. At 3:15 AM, I woke to stillness. No power, no noise. No flashlight. Barefoot, I make my way down to the kitchen where a flashlight sits. As luck has it, I stepped on broken glass of our butter dish. One of our three cats is a little bit of a snoop dog, always nosing around in the kitchen. At times pure luck is on my side, no blood, no need to wake the wife to pull out shards of glass from my foot, ( I stepped on the rounded smooth part of the butter dish.) No sense in trying to get another hour of sleep, so I grab the camera and tripod and head outside to a crystal clear early morning. Wishing for coffee, and waiting for the power to come back on, I composed a few starry eyed images. Is it nap time yet! PS; power is back on!

The boys in front of me from one of Steve Nash's youth clubs kept cheering "Hat Trick, Hat Trick" anytime Hasheem Thabeet of the Memphis Grizzlies got near the goal in the 2nd half. Thabeet's team Coastal Savings won the game something like 10 to 5, with Thabeet scoring 2 goals.

Steve Nash's "Showdown in Downtown" Vancouver: 7' 3" NBA rookie Hasheem Thabeet almost gets a Hat Trick of goals by Susan Gittins

The boys in front of me (from one of Steve Nash's youth clubs) kept cheering "Hat Trick, Hat Trick" any time Hasheem Thabeet of the Memphis Grizzlies got near the goal in the 2nd half. This was close (that's the goalie on the ground) so they changed their chant to "Penalty, penalty, penalty". Thabeet's team won the game something like 10 to 5, with Thabeet scoring 2 goals.

Hasheem Thabeet of the Memphis Grizzlies was a towering figure in the game, literally, at 7' 3". He was also a great sport and even a not-bad soccer player, scoring two goals.
