The Basilica of Saint-Hubert in Belgium. A Roman Catholic basilica in the Middle Ages.

The Nuestra Señora del Pilar cathedral basilica is the largest baroque church in Spain and one of the most important temples in the country. Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pilar was founded in the place of the first Christian history of the apparitions of Our Lady. It appeared on the pole, hence the name of Our Lady at the Column.

It is considered to be the first Marian shrine in the world because it has a column in it (Spanish el pilar), in which Mary, living in Jerusalem, appeared in the body, appearing in the body of the Apostle James on January 2, 40. The shrine center is a jasper column with a 15th-century figurine of Madonna and Child. Madonna del Pilar is a patron saint of the Spanish and her holiday on 12 October is the national holiday of Spain.

At first there was only a small chapel. The present form was obtained by extension in the years 1681-1754.

The Oudenbosch Basilica is a Roman Catholic basilica in the Dutch village of Oudenbosch. The basilica is named after Agatha of Sicily and Barbara of Nicomedia, two Christian martyrs from the third century. It was built at the initiative of Willem Hellemons who was parish priest between 1842 and 1884. Its nave and interior were modeled after St. Peter's Basilica, while the facade is a replica of the Basilica of St. John Lateran, both located in Rome. The basilica was designed by architect Pierre Cuypers. Construction began in 1865 but was not fully completed until 1892. The basilica is unique in the region in that it is relatively large with a classical Italian appearance that is atypical for most of northern Europe, let alone a small town in North Brabant.

Dutch Papal Zouaves and local Catholics gathered in Oudenbosch and left for Rome in 1868 to defend the Papal State against Giuseppe Garibaldi's Italian nationalist army. Therefore Pope Pius IX agreed to build a relatively big basilica in a small place.[citation needed] Originally a church, it was designated a minor basilica in 1912. A piece of the cloak Pope John Paul II wore during the 1981 assassination attempt is kept there as a relic.

Elements inspired by their counterparts in Rome include Michelangelo's Pietà, Bernini's baldachin, the Chair of Saint Peter, and Bernini's Gloria.

Art is everywhere - in the columns, the ceiling and the friezes of Ravenna's 6th Century AD Basilica di Sant Apollinare Nuovo. The mosaics are also superb.

Montmartre, Paris

Montmartre has been a place of worship since the time of the Druids of Gaul. After the Roman conquest, temples to Mars and Mercury were built on the site. The modern basilica to the Sacred Heart was erected in the latter 19th century. Prior to that it had been an abbey.

Basilica di San Marco, Venice, Italy

The present church was built after the fire of 1844. It exhibits a neoclassical construction, decorated with one of the largest organ in South America, a large lamp of Sevillian origin, a French neo-Gothic pulpit, Carrara marbles and wood carving. It is also one of the 70 churches in the world authorized to display the banner of the Vatican.

In Dyersville, Iowa, the Basilica (from the Greek meaning "Royal House") features Gothic Revival architecture. The two steeples are 212 feet (65 m) tall with 14 feet (4.3 m) crosses that cap the spires. This helps make the church visible from miles away across the rolling farmland. Pilots often use these steeples as landmarks during flights. The interior of the church is decorated with a number of paintings and frescoes, and 64 large cathedral glass windows. We grew up near here.

On the edge of the historic center of the small town of Galatina is the Basilica of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria. The building has an invaluable value from a pictorial and architectural point of view and is even nicknamed the "Sistine Chapel of Salento".

The Cathedral Basilica of Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary in Włocławek is a Gothic building.

The first brick cathedral in Włocławek was in a different place, it was burnt by the Teutonic Knights in 1329.

The current cathedral was built from 1340 and continued until the 15th century, until 1526, when the northern tower was completed. It is a three-nave temple with a narrower and much lower presbytery. Particularly noteworthy are: stained glass windows from 1360, a wooden statue of the Mother of God from the beginning of the 15th century and a painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The interior is decorated with polychrome, made in the years 1900-1901.
