This statue is a Balinese mermaid or sea goddess figure, a common motif in Indonesian coastal art and mythology.
These sculptures are believed to ward off evil spirits and offer protection to the home or sacred spaces.
Its name, Suvannamaccha — The Golden Mermaid — came from Southeast Asian adaptations of the Ramayana. In Thai and Cambodian versions, Suvannamaccha (literally “golden fish”) is a mermaid princess who attempts to sabotage Hanuman’s mission to build a bridge but ends up falling in love with him instead. In Bali, she is a well-loved mythical figure in local folklore. Her prayer hands suggest reverence or divine status, fitting with Hindu devotional practices, when placement by sea symbolizes connection with water, spiritual guardianship, and folk storytelling rooted in Balinese coastal life.
Gajah Mina: A hybrid creature drawing from local legends—part elephant, part aquatic being—seen in tattoos and sculptures across Bali.
Mina means an elephant-fish mythical creature.

The Kecak dance, or 'Tari Kecak', is a captivating traditional Balinese art performance, which also goes by, ‘the monkey chant dance’, and loosely 'fire dance', for its occasional use of fire as a centrepiece prop. The Kecak was created around 1930 and is now internationally recognised as one of Bali’s top-three signature dances (alongside the Barong and Legong). The Kecak dance is unique in that it has no other musical background or accompaniment besides the chanting of male dancers, intoning a “keh-chack” polyrhythmic choir during most of the performance. The main characters depict Rama, Sita, Ravana, Lakshmana, Hanuman and Sugriva. The storyline generally starts from when prince Rama goes to the woods with Sita, his wife, and Lakshmana, his brother. There, Ravana kidnaps Sita and imprisons her in his castle. Rama seeks for help and sends Lakshmana to find his friend, Sugriva, the King of the Monkey Kingdom. Hanuman, Sugriva’s commander, is sent to check on Sita in Ravana’s palace and Rama finally begins the battle. At first, Ravana wins, but Sugriva and Hanuman then come to Rama’s aid with monkey troops. Sugriva finally wins. The male chorus chants ‘chack’, representing the sound of the monkey troops. The soft rattling sound of bells around the protagonists’ ankles is the only addition to Tari Kecak’s choral background.

A Balinese lady is placing an offering at shrine for Tumpek Wariga day. Devoted to Sanghyang Sangkara, Lord of all food - plants when blessing ceremony is given to them for good crops and products, held at every plantation and farm throughout the island.
Tumpek Uduh is the day to worship the god of vegetation, celebrated as ceremonial event of blessing trees with porridge and other offerings. The sacred ritual aims to remind people of how important plants are as their staple food source. The ritual also reflects human pleas for God’s guidance in growing and keeping plants.
Offerings in Tumpek Uduh are presented to God (Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa) in manifestation of Sangkara (god of vegetation). In Hindu concept, Sangkara is believed to be the one who creates plants for human needs. As gratitude and appreciation to Him, humans must love all kinds of plants.

Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 16th-century Dang Hyang Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and rested there. Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock, for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods.[3] The main deity of the temple is Dewa Baruna or Bhatara Segara, who is the sea god or sea power and these days, Nirartha is also worshipped here.[4]
The Tanah Lot temple was built and has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples was established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast. In addition to Balinese mythology, the temple was significantly influenced by Hinduism.
At the base of the rocky island, venomous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. The temple is purportedly protected by a giant snake, which was created from Nirartha's selendang (a type of sash) when he established the island.

Mount Batur is 1,717 meters high above sea level (the third highest peak in Bali) and considered as one of the sacred mountain according to Hindu belief. It is a semi active volcano located in Kintamani district of Bangli regency. The Kintamani area was once dominated by a massive volcano which created the 3 kilometer wide caldera now occupied by Lake Batur and the active volcano Mount Batur.
