Thinking about The Bahamas tonight with Hurricane Dorian approaching the Northern Bahama islands. Also keeping my eye on Hurricane Dorian for my own sake as my area of Virginia could be in for bad weather later in the week.
On a beautiful sunny day , I finally have returned to Chester station to capture some more trains at long last . I wasnt going to miss this opportunity as there were two engines arriving that day ..
Bahamas brought in the Christmas Cheshireman, from Bristol Temple Meads . Then for the return journey , the Duchess of Sutherland arrived to head it back to Chepstow ..(picture of her to follow)

On a damp overcast morning in Somerset steam locomotive 45596 Bahamas makes hard work pulling her rake of 11 coaches through Witham Friary with 1Z70 0700 Paddington to Minehead West Somerset Steam Express, the last one of the season.
The train had stopped at Frome to take on water, was about 5 min down, and was regaining momentum on a slightly wet rail.
21st October 2023, ex LMS Jubilee class 45596 Bahamas is seen catching the reflection at Manchester Oxford Road with the Empty Coaching Stock from Manchester Piccadilly to Castleton. The train had worked the "Mancunian" from London Euston
Restored Jubilee Class 4-6-0 45596 "Bahamas" heads north over Dandrymire Viaduct with the Bahamas Railtour charter train from Keighley to Carlisle on a stormy February 22nd 2020. On a day like this with the southern part of the Yorkshire Dales under water, it's hard to imagine anything less like the Bahamas than this!

They say its sunny in Bahamas.... as LMS Jubilee 45596 crosses a rather empty Swithland Viaduct with a matching set of blood and custards - 02/10/25 during the GCR Autumn Steam Gala.

One side polished but there is still work to do on the other.
A couple of weeks ago I accompanied Mark to Wansford on the Nene Valley Railway where Bahamas had spent a week running services on the line. Prior to its main line move to Crewe it therefore needed a good clean. Mark and I volunteered for the duty on 31st August. That day we only had time to concentrate upon the brightwork and others including Mark returned later to give the paintwork a good fettle.
Time has conspired against me and I have been absent from Flickr for a week or so but should be back online for the next week.

Je ne veux pas en abuser, mais les Bahamas sont vraiment le décor de carte postale rêvé… enfin si on envoyait des cartes postales depuis l’ISS. Dans la Cupola, on se croirait dans un bateau à fond de verre quand vous avez l’eau bleue turquoise sous les pieds… mais à 400 km. Il y a quelques semaines, j’avais pris deux types de photos différentes de cette région du globe : une assez zoomée et l’autre au grand angle. Cette fois-ci, c’est un collage de nombreuses photos prises au zoom maximal, mon nouveau passe-temps du dimanche. Pour la reconstituer il m’a fallu de l’aide sur Terre : ça prend un certain temps et c’est assez gourmand en ressource informatique ! À défaut de plonger dans l’eau, faites comme moi et plongez vous dans les détails de cette image pour la fête nationale des Bahamas ;) 🇧🇸 www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Images/2021/07/Bahamas_in_big
If we sent postcards from the Space Station, I would send a picture of the Bahamas. Earlier in Mission Alpha I posted two types of normal pictures with a zoom lens and a wider angle, here's a collage of many images taken at maximum zoom. This is a third type of photography that requires processing on Earth (it uses a lot of computer memory to process all the pictures in image treatment software)!
