It's an external disk drive reader. What's nice about it? Well, I by any old SATA disk and pop it into this thing. It handles 2.5 inch laptop drives as well as the 3.5 inch ones like the 320 gigabyte that you see here. It can connect with either USB 2.0 or eSATA.
I brought it with me to do on the fly backups of the daily photos I'll be taking. Really, I will be. Today was a travel day. There weren't too many good opportunities to take my Pentax K20D out of it's safe harbor. I did take a couple of photos with my camera phone, but I decided to use this instead.
Backup early and often. It's not a question of if, it's just a matter of when a data loss will occur.
in the past week, i have not added any pictures to flickr, so this should explain why.
My cheap HP laptop that i bought 3yrs ago is dead now. The hardware just checkout after 3yrs of abusive use. How was that even possible? I dont fcking know, it's like HP put a timer in their products.
I kinda saw this coming soon but didn't know it's so soon... this is the result of lazy ass about backing files.
goodnews: i did some research and found out a way to recover my files from the damaged HDD.
i was able to get all of my pictures back, and some of my music files back too.
What's next?
A) I wont be uploading pictures up, because i dont have a computer to work on. The computer i use right now is 6yrs old...very slow...i can barely type!
B) I have to use the money saved toward my nikon 24-70mm f2.8 to buy a new computer.... FCKING SAD :(
C) I'm purchasing a new computer soon... i'm thinking between the new iMac and macBook Pro
