Baboon baby in the forests of the Lake Manyara, Tanzania
Better be watched by an animal than a nosy man.

Mother alligator coaxing one of her babies to join the others in the pod. I was watching as another alligator approached; the Mum eventually attacked the intruder - so protective. Cullinan conservation area, west of Houston, Texas. 3/9/23. Enlarge so the infant can be better seen in front of the mother's snout.
These little Goslings put a smile on my face and I hope they will for you <3

In Nairobi, Kenya, just look up and this is what you see Storks have move into the city.
The locals call them the clean up committee. They will eat just about anything.
This time of year their nests are full of white fully chicks
A Clark's Grebe feeding its young. I found it so interesting to really watch these amazing birds and how they taught their young to fish and eat.

The fires (California ) are terrible, I hope they are all put out soon .

Emily had attitude even at 2 1/2 months old. This defiant look was shot in early February just a few weeks after we got her.
A baby oriole is sitting in the feeding dish staring at the jelly dish not quite sure how to access it. He saw mom and dad doing it but it seemed so much easier for them.

Two baby bunnies arrived on my NC property during the spring of 2021. After some squabbling they became friends....matured, then realized they were of the opposite sex. The following spring they mated and this is a picture of their offspring several months later. During late summer the parents left, so the babies could learn to survive on their own.
This is another sibling of the fledging a few days ago. It is more able and moved from bush to bush. The only day I saw this fellow, must flown away as it was quite ready then.

Special photo - not one but two elephants with raised trunks. The upward-trunked elephant is considered a positive omen, and it is often associated with blessings and good luck to those who encounter it. Kruger National Park - as rain was approaching.
Babies act out when they're hungry, cold, tired. They do this for survival.

Waxwing birds are not true long-distance migrants, but wander erratically outside the breeding season and move south from their summer range in winter. In poor berry years huge numbers can erupt well beyond their normal range, often in flocks that on occasion number in the thousands.
A new Waxwing family in the tree about 50' outside our balcony.
My wife caught this one!
I still remember this photographic moment. Wandering through my flower garden on a warm day, I noticed movement in some dried fronds of sword ferns. Then I was filled with happiness when I realized I was seeing baby spiders scurrying around. Eventually I discovered that these were Araneus (European garden spider or crowned orb weaver). I'm just pleased that I had this close encounter.
Baby crowned orb weaver spiders travel in the most interesting way. Do check out this link for more information...

This little baby toad was one of many crossing a grassy path..I nearly stepped on them and just saw them in time. I've no idea where they were heading as the pool (opposite direction) was quite a distance away, down a steep hill. Quite a journey for these youngsters, leaving 'home' for the first time, I hope they all made it to their destination and survived, such a perilous journey to undertake - there is safety in numbers, I hope! :)
Enjoy this beautiful sunny Wednesday :)

I went down near the pond to take some pictures of some wood ducks when I noticed some movement in the water next to the shore. It was baby muskrats. They were so tiny that they could of fit in my hand. There were four little ones in all and they were so much fun to watch.
The Harpy Eagle is a massive raptor of lowland forests of Central and South America. It has a strong bill and particularly robust tarsi and toes, which coupled with its large body size position the Harpy Eagle as the world's most formidable eagle (Brown and Amadon 1968), Vulnerable.
One of my trips this year was dedicated to find this precious bird. I hope you enjoy! Have a Peaceful Travel Tuesday!

I am having babies fever and can't wait for the animal babies to start appearing. This is a baby Pika and while one probably would not see these until summer I can't wait for the spring babies either.
Our baby is really growing. We are becoming friends. If you want to make friends with a Rabbit give them black licorice Yesterday I went out close to it and held apiece out and talked to it. It came within 3 feet of me and stopped. I can go out in the yard now and it doesn't go back under the storage shed.
Have a wonderful new week.
