Falken sind perfekte Jäger: Mit ihrer speziellen Flugtechnik jagen sie in der Luft andere Vögel oder stürzen sich auf Beutetiere am Boden herab.

Autumn Colours at Bod Petrual

(1/1000, f/5.0, 54mm, ISO400)

While I was at Bodega Bay I made my way to Bodega Head looking for Pigeon Guillemot, they were there but the big stir of excitement was the 'migrating whales'! As they passed the head the mother with her baby hung out on the surface. It appeared she was nursing and the baby did spend some time poking his head up out of the water. A very enjoyable afternoon.

We're leaving today heading up to Sierra Valley, guys golfing, girls birding!

Thank you all for your continued inspiration, comments & favs...see you next week!

A warming sunrise at Dead Bod Jetty in Hull. These Riverside sheds are soon to make way for a new quayside industrial wind farm development. They take their name from an infamous shipping landmark painted on the river side of the shed of an upside down dead bird with the words Dead Bod underneath. Thought to have been painted in the 1960's by a local captain and chief engineer and has been used since as a navigation marker.

I wrote a blog on Hull's popular photography locations. Please check it out, it may be useful! www.neilnicklinphotography.co.uk/blog/2015/5/photography-...

Cors Bodgynydd reservoir is an upland lake in the Gwydir Forest in North Wales, and is known locally known as "Bod Bach", distinguishing it from a nearby, but much larger lake ("Bod Mawr" or "Llyn Bod").

Water from the larger lake flows into this smaller lake.

Both lakes were dammed to create reservoirs to produce water to turn the large water wheel at the nearby Pandora mine, though they now hold less water than they once did due to the demolition of Bod Bach dam, and the altering of the sluice control at Bod Mawr in 1970.

An area beside this smaller lake has been designated the Cors Bodgynydd Nature Reserve due to the rich variety of plant and animal life there.

This spot affords some spectacular views of the surrounding Gwydir forest, and the mountains of Eryri (snowdonia).

A woman of the Bodi tribe has fallen ill and died. The other woman of the tribe shout to the spirits and chant of her death to bring her soul to peace. The Bodi men perform ceremonial death procession and will keep the body of the woman safe for 3 days. After this, the tribe will gather together and eat the body as a sign of respect, and to ensure passing into the next world. The missionaries have failed to ban this practice.
