The Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaerde (Dutch: Prinselijk Begijnhof Ten Wijngaerde) is the only preserved beguinage in the Belgian city of Bruges. There are no more Beguines living there, but since 1927 it has functioned as a convent for Benedictines, founded by canon Hoornaert. In the same year the houses at the west side were also reshaped and enlarged into the Monasterium De Wijngaard, a priory of Benedictine nuns.

The complex includes a gothic beguinage church and about thirty white painted houses dating from the late 16th, 17th and 18th century. Practically all of these are built around a central yard. The main entrance with gate can be reached via the three-arched stone bridge, the Wijngaard Bridge. In a bay the image of the holy Elizabeth of Hungary can be seen, who was the patron of many beguinages. De Wijngaard is also devoted to Saint Alexius. The entrance gate was built in 1776 by master mason Hendrik Bultynck. The first Beguine house next to the entrance is furnished as a museum and the exhibition includes paintings, 17th and 18th century furniture and lacework, among others. A second gate gives access to the Sas House, via the Sas Bridge.

The rei runs from the meeting of the Groenerei and the Coupure to the Spiegelrei.

The street of the same name is located on the eastern bank and runs from Minneboplein and Leffingestraat to Carmersbrug and Carmersstraat. The Verversdijk is located on the western bank. The Sint-Annarei is spanned by the Molenbrug, the Sint-Annabrug and the Strobrug.

The name "Sint-Annarei" refers to the district and parish of Sint-Anna adjacent to the east. Originally the street west of the rei (now Verversdijk) was called the Schottendijk, because of the Scottish merchants established there.

There is little clarity about the artificiality of the Sint-Annarei. It may be the canalization of the lower reaches of the Vuldersreitje, a watercourse that came from Assebroek. From 1127 the Sint-Annarei was part of the first city walls of Bruges.

The Oude Molenpoort was located near the Molenbrug. Between 1623 and 1855 the Sint-Annarei was part of the canal between Ostend, Bruges and Ghent. The Ringvaart then took over this role. In 1750, all bridges over the Sint-Annarei were replaced by wooden (and later iron) swing bridges to allow passage for larger ships. In the 1970s the bridges were again replaced by the current stone bridges.

The former warehouse number 4 still bears witness to the medieval trading activities. The street also had two important breweries: brewery Den Hert, in house number 17, and brewery Den Arend, later brewery Aigle Belgica, in buildings numbers 23-27.

The Rococo house at number 22 of Sint-Annarei was inhabited in the nineteenth/twentieth century by doctor and art collector Désiré De Meyer, son of the surgeon and art collector Isaac De Meyer, and after him by the war pilot and brewer André De Meulemeester.

This house and the adjacent Blekersstraat were the setting for two well-known films: L'Empreinte de Dieu, after the book of the same name (Prix Goncourt 1936) by Maxence Van der Meersch, and The Nun's Story, a film by Fred Zinnemann with Audrey Hepburn.

The Port Authority Building (Dutch: Havenhuis), or the Port House, is a government building located in Antwerp, Belgium, built between 2009 and 2016.

It is located near the area of Eilandje, in the Port of Antwerp, and acts as the new headquarters of the Antwerp Port Authority, housing various departments.

Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the building opened in 2016, the year of her death. It is the sole government building designed by Hadid. The design of the building incorporates the use of a fire station, integrating it into the building. Attached above and connected to the fire station is a contemporary diamond-shaped structure marked by straight edges, with an additional column providing support from the floor.

The building houses approximately 500 employees, and acts as a meeting place for international contacts of the Antwerp port community. According to the Antwerp Port Authority, the building is meant to "symbolise the dynamic, reliable, ambitious and innovative nature" of the Port of Antwerp.

Grand Place Grote Markt

Grazie mille per i gentili commenti.

Chapel "Our Lady with the trombone" at the fasade of the House of "Grote Market Nr. 60".

The chapel consists of three technically different

Parts: the coronation, the chapel itself and the console.

The Grote Markt ("Great Market Square") of Antwerp is a town square situated in the heart of the old city quarter. It is filled with an extravagant city hall, numerous elaborate 16th century guildhalls, many restaurants and cafés. Lying within walking distance of the Scheldt river, it hosts a Christmas market and ice rink in winter.

The City Hall (Dutch: Stadhuis of Antwerp), stands on the western side of Antwerp's Grote Markt ("Great Market Square").

Erected between 1561 and 1565 after designs made by Cornelis Floris de Vriendt and several other architects and artists, this Renaissance building incorporates both Flemish and Italian influences. The Stadhuis is listed as one of the Belfries of Belgium and France, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

"Quando vai errando - gli accarezza il braccio mentre spiega - le lettere che compongono il tuo nome vagabondano con te.. Quando vai errando, i tuoi ricordi d’infanzia sono così concreti che uno di loro potrebbe anche sedersi vicino a te sull’autobus. Quando vai errando, i lacci delle scarpe e dell’anima ti si slacciano più spesso… Quando vai errando, l’area dell’innamoramento è sempre accesa, esiste il pericolo che t’innamori persino di una città."

St. Symphorien military cemetery from the First World War. This cemetery was initially founded by the German army, for the German and British men who were killed at the Battle of Mons (August 1914). This was the condition of the original landowner, Jean Houzeau de Lehaie, that the Commonwealth soldiers should be treated with the same respect as the Germans. The cemetery was inaugurated in 1917, but also includes graves from the last days of the war - which is why the cemetery have the graves both of what is believed to be the first British soldier killed in the war (private John Parr) and the last (George Ellison and George Price, a Canadian). After the armistice the cemetery was turned over to the Commonwealth Grave Cemetery Commission.

The cemetery includes 229 Commonwealth burials, and 284 German. Of this total 105 remain unidentified.

C'è un piacere nei boschi senza sentieri,

c'è un'estasi sulla spiaggia desolata,

c'è vita, laddove nessuno s'intromette,

accanto al mare profondo, e alla musica del suo sciabordare:

non è ch'io ami di meno l'uomo,

ma la Natura di più.
