Goat's Beard (aka Yellow Salsify) is a perennial, non-native wildflower found in Colorado (and in Michigan). Supposedly, it's taproot can be ground up as a coffee substitute. I think I'd have to wait 'til coffee was available again : )
It's large yellow flower opens in the morning, turns to face the sun, and closes by midday.
This Reddish Egret was the only one working on a Monday morning on Bolivar Flats. Its attire was already trending toward breeding plumage and coloration more than a week before Valentines Day.

So it's clocking off time for our pair of street entertainers. As they are twins the assumption is that profits are split 50/50? Seriously though how cool to have yourself as a puppet?
Another colour candid from me in an attempt to brighten my stream. Had to wait a while to get this shot as wanted to get a natural moment rather than the actual performance. Was also literally laying on the ground to get the angle.Think it came out ok and worth eating dirt for :)

In the UK and many parts of Europe, it may be seen in a variety of habitats such the edges of woodlands, hedgerows, or within woods where a gap in the canopy has formed; though it does tend to like chalky soils. Whilst it is fairly common in the south of England, it is less common as one goes north.

Hair ice, also called ice wool or frost beard, is a rare natural phenomenon in which a hair-like, woolly ice structure develops on dead and wet heartwood, not on the bark, of deciduous trees.
Hair ice can form when the air temperature is slightly below freezing. Fungi occur in the wood and the metabolism of these fungi, among other things, releases water that is forced out through very small openings in the wood. The water squeezed out freezes into a hair-like structure. High humidity is necessary for the successful formation of hair ice so that the water squeezed out cannot evaporate and remains available for freezing. As long as the fungi continue to produce water and the climatic conditions remain favorable, hair ice can continue to grow. If the air temperature becomes too low, the metabolism of the fungi drops to such a low level that insufficient water is produced.
Hair ice is very delicate and melts immediately upon contact. If hair ice is exposed to sunlight, it will quickly sublimate and disappear. Hair ice can therefore be found early in the morning or only in shady places.

IJshaar, ook wel haarijs of sneeuwbaard, is een zeldzaam natuurlijk verschijnsel waarbij een haarachtige, wollige ijsstructuur ontstaat op dood en nat kernhout, dus niet op de bast, van loofbomen.
IJshaar kan ontstaan als de luchttemperatuur even onder het vriespunt ligt. In het hout komen schimmels voor en bij de stofwisseling van deze schimmels komt onder andere water vrij dat door zeer kleine openingen in het hout (houtstralen) naar buiten wordt geperst. Het naar buiten geperste water bevriest tot een haarachtige structuur. Een hoge luchtvochtigheid is noodzakelijk voor de succesvolle vorming van ijshaar zodat het naar buiten geperste water niet kan verdampen en voor bevriezing beschikbaar blijft. Zolang de schimmels water blijven produceren en de klimatologische omstandigheden gunstig blijven, kan ijshaar aan blijven groeien. Als de luchttemperatuur te laag wordt, daalt de stofwisseling van de schimmels tot zo'n laag niveau dat er onvoldoende water geproduceerd wordt.
IJshaar is zeer teer en smelt na aanraking direct weg. Als ijshaar aan zonlicht wordt blootgesteld, zal het snel sublimeren en verdwijnen. IJshaar is daarom 's morgens vroeg of alleen op schaduwrijke plaatsen te vinden.

Natures Fireworks. Yellow Goat's Beard.
Yellow goat’s beard and yellow salsify. It’s an attractive, but rather unremarkable yellow flower whose presence often goes unnoticed; however its three to four-inch globe-shaped seedhead is eye-catching and resembles a giant dandelion on steroids. And when the sunlight hits the seedhead just right, it’s stunning.

History note: Captain Lewis & Clark reached the Pacific Ocean near modern-day Seaview, Washington, November 15, 1805.
It's a simple view of pure nature landscaped with beautiful evergreen trees, a beach shore when tide is out is reachable by foot or vehicle. Today, it was 115f in town, here 66f key weather with low cloud marine haze over the ocean...it was the perfect day to cool off.

But is growing a beard obligatory under Islam?
Professor Muhammad Abdel Haleem, of the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, says "this is not the only view expressed by Muslim scholars."
Many Muslim scholars now do not see the beard as an obligation and do shave their beards.
Muslims learn about the Prophet's views on facial hair not from the Koran, but through hadith - or sayings - attributed to Muhammad.
One such hadith, in a collection by Muslim scholar Muhammad al-Bukhari centuries ago, stipulates: "Cut the moustaches short and leave the beard."
The Prophet Muhammad is believed to have had a beard and those who insist that devout Muslims grow beards argue that they are doing no more than asking the faithful to emulate the Prophet's actions.
