MediaCity Bridge, Salford Quays
Just like Dorothy’s road, this road has its own group of hidden dangers. Far worse than the Scarecrow, Tin man and the Lion. Here you are more likely to get run over by speeding cyclists (who never dismount), skateboarders, roller-skaters, Deliveroo riders and worst of all e-scooters who stop for no one!

Salford Quays
After spending most of the afternoon in Manchester dodging the rain, we headed back to the Quays to meet up with Mike Dutson for a night shoot and hopefully a decent blue hour. The weather was suggesting otherwise and after a bite to eat and drink in Limes (why not, it was raining again!) we started to make our way round to the MediaCity bridge (left of shot).
I’ve not shot the Quays at night for a very long time and the excitement got the better of me. The sky was looking particularly menacing at this point and I thought grab what you can, while you can, so this is camera straight out of the bag… no setup and handheld, which I don’t like doing at slow shutter speeds, but that sky was too good to miss - a case of premature shutter action I guess!

...or as they say in Germany
„Fußball ist ein einfaches Spiel, bei dem 22 Spieler gegeneinander spielen und zuletzt immer die Deutschen gewinnen.“
The original source of this quote is difficult to find. Was it Euro 96? Or even Italia 1990? Or another of the many occasions that Germany won at a major international football tournament? Or after any one of the many times that England lost on penalties?

Here is the brilliant Clare Balding starting off the final coverage of the Grand National by the BBC, coverage which has helped ensure that the race is one of the greatest sporting occasions in the national consciousness. By passing to Channel 4 and with too many controversial deaths and the memories of Red Rum's exploits fading in the people's memory, I think we will see the Grand National on a quick downward course in the coming years.
Thought I’d better test the X100F after a bit of a photo drought. JPEG processed in Lightroom with finishing touches in Snapseed. So, all n iPad.
