I was fortunate to have photographed the two remaining 744Ds on the same day before they were retired, and while the sun wasn't out following heavy rain the night before, the visibility was clear

 

JA8960 was actually retired from service the same day this picture was taken, and sister ship JA8961 was retired on March 31 2014.

ANA B744D was departing from the runway 34R in the afternoon.

 

Unfortunately, this jumbo jet has been retired after operating the flight from Naha to Tokyo Haneda, which was the ANA's last flight of 747, on 31 March 2014.

Unfortunately, this jumbo jet would be retired on 30 September 2013. This special livery would also be become history.

ANA 747 returns to Osaka Itami for the first time since 2006, and for the very last time before retirement! The turnout of people for this very special event were phenomenal - as many as 700 photographers jam-packed "Senrigawa" (bottom of picture) and many hundred more elsewhere at different vantage points in and around the airport to witness the return of the "Queen of the skies", timed perfectly to coincide with the sunrise.

Heavy crop to remove the lamppost from the left hand side of the photo, but I had to leave the impressive downtown Tokyo skyline in the photo. JA8961 landing on one of its final flights at Tokyo Haneda.

ちなみに、真中の B767-381 (JA8670) は、前日に小松空港から羽田まで乗った機体。
