A Group Photo of some of the Columbus Flickr Meet Group at the Ohio Theater. This room is stunningly beautiful, really it's just jaw dropping.
This was a great event, and we had a lot of people show up... look forward to seeing everyone next time. This photo is Definately Best Viewed Large. By my count there are almost 40 people...
Put a Note with your name on your head (or if you know the person)...
...that's a lotta camera gear there folks, brings a tear to my eye..ha!
Tech Stuff: This was actually kinda tricky to pull off.. not a ton of light and we had to light up a decent amount of space. Shot was exposed at 15mm @ f/4, 1/50th w/ISO1600 (ISO800 didn't let enough of the background light in)... I was rushing so I would have done a few things different here, but oh well... here it is anyway, proof we were all here.
The gear was a Canon 20D with a Canon 10-22mm lens on a Manfrotto Tripod. There were five Canon Speedlites used to take this photograph (two 580EX's, one 550EX and two 430EX), two flashes were placed on the bottom right and left on the sides, and then another set of flashes about eight rows up. The flashes on the left were held by our wonderful guide... all triggered by a Canon speedlite on the hot shoe.
Set Desc: Photographs of The Ohio Theater in Columbus Ohio, which was the subject of the a recent Columbus Flickr Meet, with over 40 Flickr folks from the Central Ohio area converging to hang out, and photograph this beautiful theater.
NOTE: This photo made it into Flickr's 'Explore" as one of the top five hundred most interesting photos on a particular day, which makes me somewhat sad as the actual resulting photos didn't make it, ha! You can see all of my photo's that have made it into the Flickr Explore pages here.

And we have walked together,
together in joy, together in sorrow
and you have often filled the emptiness of my words
and you have always let me a good chance in our game.
Because of all of this, and because of other things I'm hidding from you,
I should say thank you for the whole time I've been loving you

- I prioritized f/2.8 and FL 200 to maximize bokeh. Focus on the left eye. Distance to the subject estimated to achive the proper DOF to clearly capture just the face and achive a progressive bokeh from the hair back. I made four test shots; she was pretty patient I must say.
- Processed in LightRoom: only auto lens correction, which provided a negligible improvement (the quality of this lens is amazing). Then I applyied CollorEffex Skin softener on mid details mostly. This filter provided the right glow touch with no other intervention needed. Y used U-points to neutralize the effect of this filter on the center of both eyes and teeth (I usually do this in headshots).
A macro view of a fidget spinner in motion. The frame represents a span of 2¼ - inches across.

Didn't have to do much on post-processing in order to get to this result. Setting the overall tone and pre-sharpening during Raw Conversion seemed enough for a jumpstart in PS this time. Levels, Curves and Selective Color contrast enhancement including one last post-sharpening with USM for the low-res screen version.
This one took about 15 minutes. Did I mention that I still have hundreds of shots like this - and counting - waiting somewhere on my harddrive to be treated some time :)

(Press "L" for a larger View). This time got my telescope and with the camera adapter is like turning it into a super telephoto lens. Also, my crop sensor camera makes my 900 mm telescope like a 1,440 mm telephoto. Just crop a little and keep most of the camera resolution. I was able to resolve a 6-mile crater on the top rim of the crater (Posidonious B).

Before its organised colonisation and cultivation in the 19th Century, Bourtanger Moor was one of the largest continuous moors in Northern Europe. Thanks to many natural, cultural and historical links with the neighbouring Netherlands, the cross-border, international Nature Park Bourtanger Moor - Bargerveen was created here in the Summer of 2006.
Almost 4,000 hectares of peat moor land serve to protect nature and offer a habitat to a wide variety of plants and animals. Nature lovers and holidaymakers can enjoy colourful scenery along rambling paths totalling 17 kilometres in length: Ochre yellow and heather hues illuminate the sand and meadows, bluish-green and brown colours the moors and former peat digs. In between the green of the cattle pastures and the gold of wheat fields, small communities and villages are scattered across the countryside.

As the title says, I'm revisiting all the sweet spots that I've came across previously, mostly with Daniel and Ariffin. The reason is that, previously I don't own the EF-S 10-22mm and I felt that I didn't do those sweet spots any justice :-)
So here's to the first of the series! The best view of Kuala Lumpur, at any given time (except when it rained I guess :D)
Update: Thanks my dear friends! This one is currently #2 on Explore for October 28th, 2008!
Tech spec: Blending of 2 tone maps from 2 sets of AEB (9 xp each). 1 tone map is to expose the foreground and the other one to expose the sky. There was insanely too much colors and tones for a 9 exposures only.
P/S: I use Photomatix 3.1 for the tone mapping. New features are CA correction and NR reduction at HDR level (not after tone mapping!) Verdict: I am IMPRESSED!

It was nice to get a few in-flight shots of this adult Red-tailed Hawk. Lately, I've seen many, many immature birds but only a couple adults.
Tech Note: The background on this shot is Sumas Mountain. On location, visually, the backgrounds looks to be a mix of brown and greens. This makes sense because it's the side of a mountain in the winter. However, for some technical reason, this mountainside appears as blue in a photo take with my Nikon cameras. Anybody have any theories on why??

Vacation in the East Coast of Malaysia. Perfect place to catch a sunrise. The place I was staying has an endless stretch of beach, without a single rock. It was a bit dull and oh boy am I lucky to find this boat.
If you're wondering about the long exposure when the sun was up, well I was using a Hoya ND400 filter - worth every 9 stops :D
Note: I'm sleepy. Just reached home and I'll probably end up in the east coast again next week :D Will catch up with your stream once I've got my beauty sleep and rest hehe
Tech Specs: 9 exposures tone mapped HDR using Hoya ND400, so yeah this is one very long sequence of exposure bracketing. Layer masking with one single exposure in CS3. Vignetting was intentionally increased in CS3.

Architect Renzo Piano on the design of The Shard: “We will use clear glass – low iron glass. It’s also called extra white glass in England. A photo of 'everyone' at the wedding.
I was asked by the bride and groom a few weeks prior to the wedding if I could "Get a photo with everyone at the wedding" I initally thought they meant family, wedding party, etc. only after them restating what they wanted on the phone did I begin to understand they wanted all 250+ people at the wedding in a single photo.
Well I decided 'why not' the couple was great and knew it might not turn out but what the heck why not try... this is the result.
Tech Info: Taken with Canon 5D and 15mm f/2.8 fisheye lens. Lighting provided by two White Lighting X1600 monolights at full power to camera right and left about 10ft. in the air... Flashes triggered with Pocket Wizard Plus II's. I also have to give a big nod here to my wife Joleen who also photographs weddings with me, she was really helpful in setting this up and helping keep people in line. Believe it or not, this shot was setup, photographed and torn down in less than ten minutes.
...yeah I wish my stupid shadow wasn't in the bottom of the frame, whatchagonnado... will watch it better next time.

Close up Macro shot that I took of wedding rings at a recent wedding I photographed for Davis Photography.
Overall I was pretty happy with it, although I think if I were to shoot it again I would have put a candle behind to bring a warmer color to the composition (something I liked a lot about this other macro ring shot I did a few months back) and then kept the shutter open longer so that the shot could have had more of the background light come in to also help warm things up.
Tech Details: Taken with a Canon 20D and 100mm f/2.8 macro lens using remote cable release cord. Camera mounted on a Manfrotto 3021BPRO tripod with 322RC2 ballhead.
Lighting Details: Two Canon 580EX flashes triggered by a Canon ST-E2 wireless transmitter. Both flashes were difused, one with a Gary Fong Lightsphere Cloud that was placed above the rings (maybe two feet above) with the other sitting on it's side off to the left (by about six inches) difused with a STO-FEN OmniBounce.

Our good friend Amanda went out shopping with me yesterday. I was going out to pick up a like new in box Canon ST-E2 wireless transmitter from a local store, I was all happy because someone just came in and sold all of his Canon gear for a Leica M8 (nice camera) and so I got my ST-E2 for $170.
After the salesperson remarking the guy had dumped his whole kit, I asked half jokingly he didn't happen to sell a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L did he ( I knew Amanda loved my 24-70mm and wanted one of her own... )... he remarked "in fact he did, and it had basically never been used", Amanda asked how much... He said $950, but since the guy never submitted the rebate for the lens she could get $50 off the lens since she was buying it from an authorized Canon reseller... It took her only about 20 seconds to make up mind... he hadn't gotten a used 24-70mm in since I bought mine from him used well over a year ago.
