at Jawai Dam, the biggest dam in western Rajasthan near Bera, India
for an enjoyable and peaceful Sunday!
A male Cotton Pygmy-goose (Nettapus coromandelianus) was caught in its natural habitat while taking off. The wetland and full blossomed water lilies were looking as gorgeous as the little goose. Perfectly complementing to the flying bird was the colours and tones of the ambiance and joy really was the smooth bokeh of the backdrop. The water droplets generated by the action was fascinatingly reflected. I found the composition like a painting and feel very pleased to have such one. Pics was taken from Adra Saheb Bandh, West Bengal, India.

Besides being a Winter paradise for migratory birds, it is the main water supply source for Jodhpur city and parts of Pali district. If there is sufficient water in the dam, then some villages of Jalore district and Pali district get water for irrigation from the Jawai dam, which was the main aim in making this dam in 1957.

Not to forget:
There is a much worse threat for our planet than Corona!!!
"The climate crisis is a water crisis. The most disastrous consequence of global warming is how it impacts the water cycle. We can already see this in the form of increasingly devastating floods and droughts. The alarming melting of snow and ice contributes to rising sea levels, more unpredictable rainfall patterns and a growing number of extreme weather events. Eventually, the changes to the water cycle, combined with extremely hot temperatures, could make large parts of Earth uninhabitable. To avoid this, we must tackle the climate crisis as the water crisis it is. "

Take care, stay healthy and have a wonderful Sunday!
The big cats live in caves during the day. They come out at sunset to hunt and drink. They have no natural enemies so people do not bother them. This photo contains a mother and male cub. We were very lucky to see them. We were about a quarter mile away, and with limited resources, so I will for the apologies the poor quality. Can a leopard change its spots? I don’t think so.

Jawai Bandh Leopard Conservation Reserve (JBLCR) in Pali district of Rajasthan, India is probably the one unique destination to see the leopards on Granite hills and caves!
Recently a leopardess named Jeewada or Jivada gave birth to two cubs. We stayed in Sena village at a lodge overlooking the granite hill on both right and left sides of it. While chitchatting with our host, we just asked him if he has ever seen the leopard on these hills, he said sometimes leopards do visit these hills!
We were awestruck and thrilled of imagining seeing a leopard right from our accommodation.
Bang... next day morning while observing hills through his powerful binocs, he breaks the news that indeed a leopardess has arrived there, and she has two cubs!! And she is none other but Jivada or Jeewda leopardess, earlier known to have made headlines by delivering the litter of 4 cubs; a very rare phenomenon in leopards.
For next two days we spent mornings, evenings, safaris and our leisure time at the lodge just to get the glimpse of her and her cubs! We were fortunate enough to observe her from top of the hill, from the bottom of the hill and from our lodge! One of her cubs is pretty extrovert, who kept giving us beautiful safari time!
This picture is unique from many aspects, first the cub is observing almost whole village from the cave, is lost, cautious, hideous and curious! And it gives a fair idea about the habitat
and the landscape where they roam freely and lavishly!

Perwa village is around 25 mins swift drive from Jawai conservation area, a laid back old world village that has famous Shiv temple on one of the granite hills. We had two vehicles running in defferent locations and directions in the morning safari, the other vehicle reached this spot earlier than us and sent a wireless message that they have spotted a leopardess. Next 20 mins drive was fast enough to put an F1 car to shame😁!
We reached the spot to witness a spectacle, she is lazying around on this rock in golden morning light, there is a famous Shiv temple just 50 meters away from this spot and this place seems to be her home!
Our cameras never stopped clicking for another half n hour or so!

In fact she herself was in the pursuit of prey, all the way came just around 20 feet close to our vehicle parked on the small hill adjacent to the hill where she has been staying with her cubs in a cave.
This picture is unique from many aspects, first she is observing almost whole village from her cave, she is hungry and in the pursuit of easy prey during the day time (rare in leopards) and down below in the village; Hanuman Langoors and Peacocks have already made announcement of danger lurking on the hill by making loud warning calls, interestingly neither the Rabaris with their cattle and sheep nor the villagers were even bothered with this commotion, as if this is a daily affair!

She covers her shame begging on the path to Taragadh, and mind you it is insanely dry and hot ..and she will sit there for hours as devotees going upwards to the Chilla of Ghaus Pak or the Dargah at Taragadh will throw her a few coins.
This is the sad part of existence , he children cluster around her and without throwing doubts on her poverty , where is her husband.I dd not ask her most of the beggars I shot in Mumbai at Bandra where I stay are forced into beggary by their husbands in most cases.
And so you know how the hijab saves her from ignominy and degradation.
And I am really upset by a news in Times of India , Hands chopped off for Prophet insult by Muslim fanatics in Kerala of a college lecturer accusing him of defaming the Holy Prophet.
And Kerala the most literate and Gods own country.. Shame.
The other sad news was the fall of a six year old boy from a luxury hotel in Juhu.. Saddening.
Well this is the last segment of this memory card I have place about 99 pictures for uploading , another card remains before my Ajmer travelogue in Sufi hinterland comes to an end.
Taragadh was introspection of street pain..though it is a hilly trail, I shot it as a street photographer .
Street photography is an impulsive piece of madness you shoot with your inner eye and let the camera do the rest.
Using a digital camera makes it much easier and as much as I liked shoting film and slide I could never do it again my world is larger than 35 frames of Film.
I post everything I shoot only the dark black duds I remove.
I dont mess my pictures with cropping nor do I re-size them..they come hot and burning like loaves from the furnace of life.
And I am cooped up at home ., earlier Bandhs I took my camera to shoot the shut shops and the lonely streets , but my world is a world of people I shoot humanity and would not be able to shoot a blank canvas..
Of course for the beggar there is no Bandh at all.
Without any political overviews or influence I am apolitical by nature but yes..
I support the Bandh as the poor Mans suffering the rock spiraling prices is a silent way of eliminating him completely..driving him away from Mumbai..making it only the rich mans paradise.
I left this post incomplete and ran down as I saw BJP protesters running beneath my house to shoot the events..arrest of Advocate Ashish Shelar BJP leader and I walked towards the Sea Link to shoot protesters burning tyres and shouting slogans.

A pair of Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis) chicks was intimately following their father. The mother was seeking foods for the chicks under the water. I had to chase their actions consistently with a shaky paddle boat. I love the adorable cute chicks with their beautiful colour tones. Pics was taken from Adra Saheb Bandh, West Bengal., India.

The city so nice, they named it twice. I took this outside of B&H Photos. If you ever go to NYC and you are a photographer do yourself a favor, visit B&H. The largest camera store that I have ever seen.
An Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) with a catch was moving to a safer perching ground before the beginning of feast. It was difficult to approach it from a paddle boat and I missed the catching sequences due to distance but eventually framed it passing by from a distance. Pics was taken from Adra Saheb Bandh, Purulia, West Bengal, India.
Have been marooned here because of the bandh for the past 2 days flights got cancelled.. hopefully can get out tomorrow...
Meanwhile here's the New Howrah bridge at sunset yesterday..

A Yellow-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus malabaricus) was framed standing in its habitat with curious looks on offer. It was making calls inside the tall grasses. I just followed the call and got it there standing and taking a bath. It was looking so charming after the bath, one can see the water in its head and wings with such refreshed look. I love the typical posture of the bird here. Pics was taken from Adra Saheb Bandh, Purulia, West Bengal, India.
