While not a long walk, it's a steep one. I constantly asked myself why I was doing this. I was on vacation, for god's sake!

Happy Easter everyone!

So that's why they call it the Rocky Mountains.

It was already late in the afternoon when I decided to hike up to Avalanche Lake, and my first time at this location.

I questioned myself whether I had made the right decision when it started to rain and thunder came rolling in, nor did it help seeing everyone else heading the opposite direction.

Yet, I could not and did not want to turn around.

A magnet was pulling me to keep walking, surrounded by ancient western hemlocks and red cedars as tall as 100 feet,

until I reached my destination.

No one was in sight. The whole lake so still, so beautiful, already expecting me, hugged by Bearhat and Little Matterhorn Mountain. Even the setting sun appeared from behind the clouds.

In this moment, at this location, I felt that love can be a sudden arrival in overwhelming quantities, just like an avalanche.

Managed a 20 minute shoot before having one of these twunts go down the back of my neck. Quick exit home after managing to get a lucky shot!

In this work, geometry and reference to nature are combined. The thirty-six argon tubes evoke the fragmented image of an avalanche, both through their icy gleam and their apparent disorder. However, geometry and logic remain present : the length of the cables that supply power to the suspended fluorescent tubes varies their position from vertical to horizontal.

The storm had passed. When we came up over the next ridge, we saw the most amazing sight we’re ever seen. A thousand feet below us, there it was: a rainbow avalanche, an avalanche rainbow. Call it what you will - it was like dying and being born again.

Well I stepped into an avalanche

It covered up my soul

When I am not this hunchback that you see

I sleep beneath the golden hills

You who wish to conquer pain

You must learn, learn to serve me well

You strike my side by accident

As you go down for your gold

The crippled h i that you clothe and feed

Is neither starved nor cold

He does not ask for your company

Not at the centre, the centre of the world

When I am on a pedestal

You did not raise me there

Your laws do not compel me

To kneel grotesque and bare

I myself am the piedestal

For this ugly hump at which you stare

You who wish to conquer pain

You must learn what makes me kind

The crumbs of love that you offer me

They're the crumbs I've left behind

Your pain is no credential here

It's just the shadow, shadow of my wound

I have begun to long for you

I who have no greed

I have begun to ask for you

I who have no need

You say you've gone away from me

But I can feel you when you breathe

Do not dress in those rags for me

I know you are not poor

You don't love me quite so fiercely now

When you know that you are not sure

It is your turn, beloved

It is your flesh that I wear
