This highly modified 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air (originally a "bubbletop" 2-door hardtop) won this year's Autorama Ridler Award, the most coveted award in the custom car hobby. To qualify for the award, Detroit Autorama must be the car's first showing to the public. Even photos of the finished car shown prior to this event will disqualify a car from selection.

These eight cars compete for the Don Ridler Memorial Award, the most coveted award in the custom car fraternity. This highly-sculpted Roadster is the 2017 Ridler Award winner.
Designed as a 1933 Ford by Chris Ito and Steve Frisbie and built by Steve's Auto Restorations of Portland, Oregon, this flamboyant roadster was hand-formed and created from the ground up using aluminum and steel from flat sheet, tubing and billet. Only a few parts were off the shelf and most of them were modified.
