Harbour Authority vessels, fishing boats, sailboats, yachts and various other water craft, including Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards share the waterway that runs along the banks of the Fraser River in Ladner, BC.
This small section of the River is lined with colourful float homes.
Ladner is a part of the City of Delta, British Columbia, Canada, and a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia. It was created as a fishing village on the banks of the Fraser River.
Named for Thomas and William Ladner, who came to the area in 1868 and began large farming and fishing operations, it developed as a centre for these operations. A series of ferries, culminating in the Ladner Ferry, allowed for access across the river to Richmond. The George Massey Tunnel provided a permanent connection in 1959.History
Like many areas around the Fraser River on what is now Greater Vancouver the area on the south side of the south arm of the Fraser was named for the original Europeans to settle there. First called Ladner's Landing, the area was settled by Thomas Ellis Ladner (1837–1922) and William Henry Ladner (1826–1907).[1] They had travelled from their home in Cornwall, UK to pursue the gold rush in California and later on the Fraser River. Settling on the area of the Fraser River Delta either side of the Chilukthan Slough in 1868, both turned to farming and fishing.

The Port Authority Building (Dutch: Havenhuis), or the Port House, is a government building located in Antwerp, Belgium, built between 2009 and 2016.
It is located near the area of Eilandje, in the Port of Antwerp, and acts as the new headquarters of the Antwerp Port Authority, housing various departments.
Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the building opened in 2016, the year of her death. It is the sole government building designed by Hadid. The design of the building incorporates the use of a fire station, integrating it into the building. Attached above and connected to the fire station is a contemporary diamond-shaped structure marked by straight edges, with an additional column providing support from the floor.
The building houses approximately 500 employees, and acts as a meeting place for international contacts of the Antwerp port community. According to the Antwerp Port Authority, the building is meant to "symbolise the dynamic, reliable, ambitious and innovative nature" of the Port of Antwerp.
In 1835, Berwick was told that its prison in the Town Hall was unsuitable and needed to be replaced. It took sometime to find a site, agree on plans and raise the money to do this. However, this project finally came to fruition with the opening of this building in Wallace Green in 1849 as a Prison. It's history as a prison was relatively short lived as it closed in 1878. However, having cost so much to build, a new use had to be found for it. Initially it was used as a Court house and by Berwick's Police Force, but then in the early 1890s it was purchased by Berwick's
Urban Sanitary Authority, it was converted to office
accommodation and stables were built on the back of the site. A plaque above the main door commemorates the completion of this work in 1892. From then until 2009, the building was used a Council administrative buildings, being eventually sold after 2015 to a local developer, who has converted it to four properties, retaining many of its original features, including some of the prison cells on the top floor.
No ropes or anchors would likely have been required to secure these lovely ladies to the dock, during the early January cold snap, These boats appeared well secured, and frozen into place.

A trip to Vienna
All those who cannot take a holiday may follow me on a tour through Vienna. Past the famous sights, but perhaps you will also discover sights worth seeing off the beaten track ...
The salt authority used to be an authority that administered salt mining and its trade. This authority has no longer existed for over 200 years, in fact. What has remained is the saying, "Why don't you complain to the Salt Authority" - i.e. to this no longer existing authority, where the hopelessness is clear from the outset !! 😂 Today there is still a locality called 'Salzamt' on Ruprechtsplatz.

These buildings of the Augsburg revenue and customs authorities erected in the years 1953-54 are a beautiful example of the city's post-war architecture. The predecessor buildings had been destroyed during the bombing raid of 25/26 February 1944.

Death: The Sixth Juncture
1. Only the Creator Holds the Power of Life and Death Over Man
2. One Who Does Not Know the Creator’s Sovereignty Will Be Dogged by the Fear of Death
3. A Life Spent Seeking Fame and Fortune Will Leave One at a Loss in the Face of Death
Eastern Lightning, The Church of Almighty God was created because of the appearance and work of Almighty God, the second coming of the Lord Jesus, Christ of the last days. It is made up of all those who accept Almighty God's work in the last days and are conquered and saved by His words. It was entirely founded by Almighty God personally and is led by Him as the Shepherd. It was definitely not created by a person. Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. God's sheep hear God's voice. As long as you read the words of Almighty God, you will see God has appeared.
MISSION HARBOUR AUTHORITY - 33428 Harbour Ave Mission BC
The iconic Mission Heritage Railway Bridge c. 1909, is a Canadian Pacific Railway bridge, spanning the fast paced Fraser River between Mission and Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada
Autumn Sundown
Mission Railway Bridge:
Replacing an earlier bridge built in 1891, which was the first and only bridge crossing of the Fraser below Siska in the Fraser Canyon until the construction of the New Westminster rail bridge in 1904, it was constructed in 1909 by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). The Mission Railway Bridge is supported by 13 concrete piers and is approximately 533 metres in length. Before completion of the Mission highway bridge, highway traffic to and from Matsqui and Abbotsford with Mission used the bridge as a one-way alternating route, with traffic lights at either end to control direction. Rail traffic often held up car crossings, causing long and often very lengthy waits, which were a part of daily life in the Central Valley until the new bridge was completed.
Beneath the bridge's north abutment is an important river-level gauge monitored during the annual Fraser freshet. The bridge is also the location of the end of the Fraser's tidal bore - downstream from the bridge the river is increasingly influenced by tidal influences from the Georgia Strait.
Swing span
The Mission Railway Bridge has a swing span which has a vertical clearance of 4.9 metres above the water when closed. The swing span is fitted atop a circular concrete pier, the 10th from the north bank of the river. The 10th pier is protected from shipping traffic by two 46 metre wood piers extending upstream and downstream respectively perpendicular to the bridge which are tapered at both ends. The navigation channel past the bridge is 30 metres in width. At night a fixed white light is displayed on piers 9 and 11 as well as at the up-river and down-river ends of the protection pier.
The majority of marine traffic consists of log tows and gravel barges, which are permitted to use the navigation channel beneath the fixed span between piers 5 and 6. The swing span is used for wood chip barges and other vessels which cannot navigate beneath the span between piers 5 and 6.
CPR maintains a bridge tender 24 hours per day at an office on the north bank of the bridge. Vessels requesting passage through the swing span contact the bridge tender on marine VHF radio, whereby the tender walks the bridge to a control booth situated on the swing span. Wikipedia

The Conciergerie, located on the Île de la Cité in Paris, is one of the main surviving remnants of the former Palais de la Cité, which also included the Sainte Chapelle. A royal residence from the 10th to the 14th century, it later became an administrative and judicial center before being converted into a prison in 1310. During the French Revolution, it gained a grim reputation: between 1793 and 1794, more than 2,700 prisoners awaited judgment here, including Marie Antoinette, who left her cell on 16 October 1793 for the guillotine. With its impressive Gothic halls — notably the vast Hall of the Men at Arms, one of the largest medieval halls in Europe — the Conciergerie bears witness to both the authority of the French monarchy and the dark days of the Reign of Terror. Classified as a historic monument in 1914, it is now open to the public as a museum, while the nearby Sainte Chapelle continues to captivate visitors with its radiant stained glass windows.

A fishing line carelessly left hanging
A fishing line with a hook that got caught while casting was simply cut and left hanging. This carelessness ultimately had fatal consequences.
Two young buzzards flew just above the river, arguing. One of the young birds flew directly into the cut fishing line. Due to the buzzard's high speed, the loosely hanging fishing line immediately wrapped itself around the right wing and became entangled. The bird tried to escape for about 10 minutes. No chance and his strength slowly waned, partly due to his serious injuries. Exhausted, it could no longer keep its head above water and drowned. Unfortunately, it was not possible for me to free the bird. The current was far too strong.
I hope that the responsible authorities will remove the line after my report
I am very sad about the senseless death of the buzzard. This is once again proof of what indifference and carelessness can lead to.

On the left is Lake Magadi, a large saltwater lake on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater which is actually the world's largest collapsed volcanic caldera. We came through here on our way from Tarangire to Serengeti; we came back and spent a day inside the caldera after the Serengeti. The caldera is unique because it has several different habitats in a relatively small area.
The main geological feature of the Ngorongoro Conservation Authority is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. The crater, which formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago, is 610 metres (2,000 feet) deep and its floor covers 260 square kilometres (100 square miles). Estimates of the height of the original volcano range from 4,500 to 5,800 metres (14,800 to 19,000 feet) high. The crater floor is 1,800 metres (5,900 feet) above sea level. The crater was voted by Seven Natural Wonders as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa in Arusha, Tanzania, in February 2013. The Ngorongoro volcano was active from about 2.45 to 2 million years ago.

Port Fraser, a Port of Vancouver Port Authority Boat on the Pitt River near Grant Narrows, Pitt Meadows, B.C.
Namtso was born in the Paleogene age, as a result of Himalayan tectonic plate movements. The lake lies at an elevation of 4,718 m (15,479 ft), and has a surface area of 1,920 km2 (740 sq mi). This salt lake is the largest lake in the Tibet Autonomous Region (U-Tsang). However, it is not the largest lake on the Tibet Plateau. That title belongs to Lake KokoNor (Qinghai Lake) (more than twice the size of Namtso); which lies more than 1,000 km (620 mi) to the north-east in Amdo.
Namtso has five uninhabited islands of reasonable size, in addition to one or two rocky outcrops. The islands have been used for spiritual retreat by pilgrims who walk over the lake's frozen surface at the end of winter, carrying their food with them. They spend the summer there, unable to return to shore again until the water freezes the following winter. This practice is no longer permitted by Chinese authorities.
The largest of the islands is in the northwest corner of the lake, and is about 2,100 m (6,900 ft) long and 800 m (2,600 ft) wide, rising to just over 100 m (330 ft) in the middle. At its closest point it is about 3.1 km (1.9 mi) from the shore.
Last weekend we had a short stay (= a mini holiday) in Antwerpen. For me a visit at the blue hour to this impressive building was one of the things I really wanted to do. This Port Authority Building is designed by the late Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and opened in 2016. The final results of her design incorporate two very different architectural era's.
I choose for the "in-your-face" look of this image. The "boat"-like/diamond segmented top part looks huge. I'm satisfied with the result. If there would be one thing I would like to add to it, it would be some artificial lights from the building itself. But I think I have to come back during a weekday (in stead of the weekend; when we were there).
Enjoy!
