Went out in my driveway in SW Austin to try and grab some pictures of the lightning rolling through the other night, and scored when this one hit very close and in a spot that was just about perfectly composed...then I grabbed the camera and ran inside to hide with the dog and cat. I think the resulting thunder clap is what caused the camera shake you can see in the lights on the houses. Setup on a tripod with a long exposure.

If you go by the registration plate then this car is from the 1940s, although the bodywork says that this Austin V8 has had a few modifications since then.....

In their search for the ideal parcels van BRS (British Road Service) developed the Austin VA, introduced in 1958 and supplied in large numbers until the early seventies. They were built by Star Bodies, the NFC's (owners of BRS) in-house bodybuilder and became known as Noddy Vans. The company was established in 1948 as British Road Services (BRS). It was the road transport company formed by the nationalisation of Britain's road haulage industry, under the British Transport Commission, as a result of the Transport Act 1947.[1]
Nature is using this old Austin automobile as a canvas upon which to create an abstract piece of art.
The Capitol Building is going under some construction and I couldn't get the shot that I wanted. So we went walking around to find an angle to where you can't see all the scaffolding and construction fences. This is a classic angle that most people take.

I was searching through some old photos and I came across this set. Just brought a smile to my face.
Thanks to the great Jamie Austin for creating this lovely creature. It's so amazing what a little padding, makeup and hairspray can do... and how an average looking guy can turn into a sexy red headed woman.

Austin II was built by the Hunslet Engine Company in Leeds (HE 1092/36) and delivered in 1936. It stayed on the Longbridge system for all of its life but, unlike some other Longbridge engines this little tank was scrapped in 1970.
This was a view Peter took many times and it shows "The Austin" when it was a large factory turning out decent family cars, the view is undated, the car in the foreground may well give a clue, but a roof and roof-rack are not enough for me to identify it.
At the other side of the railway wagon loads of steel scrap await working down to Kings Norton Yard, the scrap was trimmings from body panels stamped out in the press shop. The site is a college & retail park today.
