The sun was just peaking over the horizon to my left. Put on my circular polarizer for this one and let the light do the rest. Another great morning.

I finally decided to drive up to northern Maine (3h 20min each way) for Screw Auger Falls. It's always been just beyond what I was willing to drive. You can really start to see some great foliage colors, although I was slightly surprised that it wasn't peak yet. The falls are really worth the drive, but the only way to get an unobstructed view of the falls is to climb into one spot that seems slightly risky/ sketchy. It seems like all of the photographers at one time or another had used this one spot. From the top, the view is partially obstructed by trees. By going straight north I escaped the remainder of Ian, as a it passed by Boston. The weather in northern Maine was excellent, partly sunny.
Happy Sunday all!
Above the main Screw Auger Falls is this smaller drop that comes out of the Maine woods ... a very pretty spot. But it is slippery out on those rocks to get this view, so walk like penguin ;)

Grandma and Grandpa's farm in the country. this photograph is along side of the corn crib, an old auger rusts on the ground. part of a series I put together for my grandmother after my grandfather passed away.
after my father was unable to farm, my grandparents moved into town and I always sensed that they both longed to be back out in the country - after he passed, I put two sets of photos together of each farm that was in the family at the time. one set was black and white, the other on expired grainy color film. now as time has moved us along there is no family farm. memories and photographs.
